My first TL!!
Hey guys,
I just got a 2006 White Diamond Pearl TL. No navigation .
It has 144,xxx Kilometres on it (89k ish miles). She's in great condition.
Since I have no service records for the car I'm doing a 1x3 transmission drain and fill with Honda DW1 AT trans fluid and i'm also changing the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches (Hopefully i can do it myself).
I dont know if the timing belt/ Water pump has been done or not, but I highly doubt it has. Do you think I can wait a bit before doing this change? Say around 150-160k kilometres?
I look forward to posting here and finding out everything I can about my TL.
Cheers!

Welcome to the WDP family!!!
It's good to know you already know how to take care of the our sensitive transmission. Change out the fluid at about 1k mile interval and I'd recommend you to change out the switches on the third 1x3, just so that they have a cleaner environment to start out with. Have fun!

Nice looking TL white with black interior has always looked very slick. As for the timing belt just like justnspace said you can do it now or wait until the 105K service. For me personally I would just wait till the 105K as I dont see there being any potential for it to break especially under the 105K.
Since it sounds like your going to be doing some maintenance on the car like you said the tranny fluid is a good idea. If your doing the 1x3 consider doing the 3x3. 1x3 is certainly good but your still running a good amount of the old stuff in there. I did a 3x3 on my wifes 04 V6 accord and it was soooo easy. Didnt even have to jack the car up I was able to reach the drain bolt and get the drain pan under the car without using my jack. It was literally easier than doing an oil change. Hopefully its just as easy on the TL. Dont forget your engine and cabin air filter. Another thing that is incredibly easy on the TL are spark plugs. You can pick up original NGK iridiums at any auto parts store and you can do the job yourself in under an hour. Let us know if you need any help or have any questions. One thing I noticed is your car is missing the rear splash gaurds. Not sure if they only wanted the front ones or what, but one thing that I personally think look great are OEM painted splash gaurds. They look good and are functional as well. Considering removing the front two black ones and buying a set fo four OEM painted ones.
Congrats on the purchase!!

Thanks guys, good call on the spark plugs and air filter. I'll add that to my list.
I was considering doing a 1x3 drain now then another one next week and at the same time replace the 3rd and 4th switches? Or does it make a difference if i did them all in one go?
Thanks for the comments.

Clean car. I wanted a WDP with black interior Type S 6 mt but that was hard to find.
Didn't find any low mileage til I bought mine.
Air filter and cabin filter are a definate must. Timing belt WP can wait and if you can do it yourself you can start building up the parts you need.
Belt pump serp belt coolant etc.
I assume you live in canada heh. haha jk
Good luck with car and welcome.

As the owner of a WDP myself, welcome aboard the WDP familia, man!! Here's my baby with one of my WIP mods, LED door sills compliments of Supercomputer, a fellow Azine member...WOA: when buying a used car, it's always good to do a general tune-up just to give you that peace of mind...I bought mine in May this year and after test driving it until the end of June to see if any surprise would spring up, I finally decided to take it to a friend mechanic who owns a performance body shop and have it tuned up. I bought mine at a Honda dealership and they just did a safety check by giving me new breaks and oil change and that's all she wrote. As a bonus though, they'd actually took the car to their own body shop and have all the scratches repaired! Surely, the car history's all clean but like I said, didn't want any surprises...now, the car drives like new!! Enjoy your TL and like a lot our Azine brothers here will tell you, hope you have a huge wallet if you're thinking of doing a lot of mods...

Welcome to the TL family. AcuraBug2 is correct. Get your wallet ready for "Acura's Diet Plan"...I should know since my wallet is 10 lbs lighter. Here s a link to my mods:

TheChamp531 has a point with doing the A Spec kit as your first mod after the tune-up. I believe thay have discontinued a lot the colors. Check with a couple of our fellow AZ members/vendors. I got my kit from AckTL05 (AZ vendor).
Good luck and have fun.
