Its nice to see how much of a shithole our society has become, where no one can or will trusts anyone
Well I guess since you live in a small Community its cool. I would never pick up a Hitch Hiker here in Orlando, FL. Crime rate is to high and I have a Child. Not looking forward to dieing anytime soon. Im trust worthy from a Distance, People in today's society are Crazy and if they weren't as Crazy maybe I would let a helping hand

I give you props that you did something as nice as picking him up. You will definitely be rewarded for that act sometime I couldn't have done the same. But it's too hard to trust randoms these days.

Ya the days of picking up hitchhikers are gone......

I have a freind that the same thing happened to him and now when someone wants to sit in his Chysler Magnum with leather seats.
And he never lets some drunk ass sit in his cars at all.

Cut your losses. You picked up a drunk guy in the middle of the night with a 10" knife that just came from a fight with his wife. Be glad your seat was the only casualty, chalk it up to a lesson learned.

Hell, I was just sitting at a light several months ago and got hit in the head with a pistol. People these days are not nice.

i know obviously he caused it, but the fact the guy was a random stranger. He's probably some psycho. I would have considered myself lucky he didnt attempt to steal my car or injure me in the process. none the less go after him for damaging my seat

Just goes to show what can happen out there. That guy in the passenger seat could have stabbed the driver in the chest before he had a chance to even think about reacting. I always seem to have bad luck like in the post above but I think it's kept me a little more cautious, maybe even a little quicker at realizing when I'm about to get into a bad situation.

Sucks to hear man. Picking up hitch hikers deff isnt what it used to be. My dad picked my mom up hitch hiking. True story. Been married almost 40 years.

If this guy's wife is dead or beat up...you may be liable for aiding and abetting a fugitive.

Your TL seat could be used as evidence. The world can be a cruel place.

Sounds like picking up hitchhikers with 10" knives in their back pockets can really come back to bite you in the ass!

Hopefully picking up that hitch hiker will be the dumbest thing you ever do.
This day and age you just can't take the chance. Somebody hitch hiking, by the very fact that they are hitch hiking, lets you know they don't have their xxxx together some how.
Your seat isn't the issue here. Be careful!

I'm here every day. Just usually can't summon up the life force to post in most threads. Have enjoyed the "dash cover" thread though, for example.
"Problems and Fixes" section at least provide things I find interesting.
This thread disturbed me though enough to respond. You just can't put yourself in the position the OP did, and I hope he would not do this again if put in a similar position. Not disputing his intentions though. Nice kid. Just can't do that.
OK, father-mode switched off.
BTW, I've grinned at quite a few of your posts Justn. Keep it up!!

**edit** "Pay it forward" thread I thought was a cool idea too. I'm doing quite a bit of that with all the old Mercedes stuff I accumulated these last 7 years. Man do I have a lot of that stuff!! Anybody wanna trade an MB owner's manual for a 3 Gen TL??

Forget it he won't pay and besides is not your fault or his fault . It was an accident. In the normal world you can always try to locate him again and if you do you can explain what happen then I don't know. He might say , ahh I am sorry here is some ash for you to fix it or he might reply get the he'll out of my way. Sorry to hear this. People for your own safety don't pick up strangers, you won't go to he'll for not doing that.
