My 06 TL is dead...
Well, I never thought that this would happen - last Wednesday morning as I was leaving my quiet cul-de-sac to drive to work, a guy in an older Ford F-150 slammed into my 06 TL w/NAV as I was making a left turn. Luckily, he swerved slightly to the left, otherwise he would have T-boned my car dead center of the driver's side door.
It is an uncontrolled T-intersection - no stop signs. I looked left, then right and as I started to turn left this guy came literally "out of nowhere". I estimate that he was going about 45-50 mph (in a residential neighborhood).
I slammed on my brakes, but since we had snow the night before, I just slide into the middle of the intersection. As I said, the driver of the Ford swerved to his left, and impacted the driver's side front quarter panel of my TL. It was probably a good thing that there was snow of the road, because the impact spun my car around almost 180 degrees.
The side curtain airbags deployed, so my head didn't even come close to hitting the window or door frame. My left shoulder slammd into the pillar between the front and read doors, and my right knee impacted something, but that's it. No broken bones, no cuts, just a sore shoulder, knee, and a dead car.
The police showed up, and took our information, took some photos, and basically sent us both on our ways. No citations were written to either party. Even though the Ford was speeding IMHO, I was wrong for not yeilding the right of way, especially with the road conditions the way they were. The Ford driver had very little damage to his truck - a bent front fender and his license play fell off. He was able to drive away - my car was toast. I got the call on Thursday morning from Abra collision repair - $16K in damage to the car, and they were recommending to State Farm that it be totalled. I was able to negotiate the value of my car to within $568 of what I owed on the loan, so now its time to get a new 09 TL w/Tech Pkg.

Can't get them to display; I guess AcuraZine and Flickr don't get along.

Burning Brakes
looks a lot like mine just that mine is crushed more and is missing half a rim..
glad to see that you're ok though. these cars have great frontal protection, even though the damage looks terrible.

The car was declared totalled by State Farm. I took the car to ABRA Collision in Coon Rapids, MN and they determined that there was approx. $16K in damage. I know that the pictures don't look like there was that much damage, but what you can't see is that the firewall was crumpled, and that there was a bulge in the roof panel near the moon roof. Believe me...I didn't want the car to be a total loss - I loved that car. But with such extensive damage, even if it was repaired, my confidence in the car's safety would have been severly diminished.

The collision repair shop stated that they would need to find the front "clip" from another TL, cut the front of my car off, and attach the new "clip" (not sure if that's the right terminology - I'm a computer guy, not a "wrench" guy). They also stated that the firewall was "crumpled" and that there was damage to the wiring harness. Unsure about the engine or the transmission.
As long as State Farm pays off the loan on the car, it's all good...

I took my car to them to fix 3 chips in my roof they got 2 of the 3 and when I took it back, they didn't want to fix the third one because it would have meant doing the whole job over again......the funny thing about all 3 chips is they were all located within a .75" circle
I talked to the guy that did my car and I asked him and I quote
"Are you blind? how could you miss that?" his response was "I don't know"
I went to the president of the company and he was talking about fixing it on the cheap.....I told him to basically kiss my rear end.......
I hope you get your car back in pristine shape...because I know I didn't......

looks like a total loss to me... add in labor.. ..glad you're okay and you got decent reimbursement from your insurance! If it were me I'd definitely prefer a total loss claim. I understand you love the car but I wouldn't want to drive / own that car after that massacre. Where are the pics of the F150.. I'm guessing there wasn't enough damage on the truck to warrant pics
