Multi-Info Display Not Very Accurate for Avg/Speed

I find that the Multi-Info Display is not accurate at all for your Average speed. My reading is avg 30kms/hr when I think I average about 65kms/hr. Do you all find the same problem???

You have to take into account the time also spent at a red light or stop & go traffic.

The readout of kms/hr is calculated directly from the kms driven and hrs driven on the MID. average kms/hr = kms drive divided by hrs driven. Can't be any more accurate than that. As XRITOS states, hrs driven is from the moment you turn on the car to the moment you turn it off. Standing still with the engine on counts as time driven.

Try resetting it on the highway when you are going a constant speed for awhile. It was right on when I tried it.

I've also noticed the average speed seemed low, but I didn't figure the time sitting at red lights into the speed. Now, when I consider the time spent sitting still, it's quite accurate. Makes you realize how much time we spend sitting in traffic...quite an eye-opener.

Actually, I've found it to be extremely accurate. In cases where I've been able to drive a constant cruise-controlled speed for a solid hour, I have happened to look a couple of times and it correcly had my avg speed at 80mph...

I just got my car like a week ago and i was suprise to see how much time i spend in the car. I live in Houston and with traffic, my average was 24MPH, and in two days I had spend 8 hours in my car. If only i could get paid for those hours.

You didn't say so, but I assume you reset the MID before driving this constant 80mph speed. Otherwise it would factor in your other data when computing.

Just clearing this up before someone asks the question.

Hehe yeah, sorry. I actually reset it at every fill-up.. My wife's Accord has the option of doing that automatically.. Cool huh?

Well I think Acura should not average the speed while sitting in the car!!! It should be the averaging out the speed while the car is moving!!!! What use would this info be while I drive an average of 65kms oppose to 30kms/hr.

This comment makes no sense whatsoever. It's a trip computer. It calculates averages for the "trip" which includes time sitting still. Next you'll want it to exclude time traveling at or below 5mph or 10mph. Ridiculous.

Can anyone out there host an image for me? I don't have time to futz around with Cardomain right now.....
