Mud Flap installation help
Has anyone installed the mudflaps themselves on an 05 TL yet? I dont want to pay the dealer to do it but I havent seen anything that shows how to do it. I dont know if it is just some screws or if you have to drill into the car. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. I would rather buy them from E-bay and do it myself instead of giving my cash to the dealer crooks. Its bad enough Im having them do my Wing spoiler..... Thanks in advance

I installed mine myself in less than an hour. Its an easy install and uses the preexisting holes. If you get them from Ebay, make sure they come with the mounting brackets(2), nuts(2) and 6 additional screws. The screws are $3/each from the dealer if you dont get them.

Agree, it is a piece of cake.
Removing the rear tires makes it a little easier to get in the wheel well to put the inner screws in.
No need to remove the front tires since they turn.

Thanks to all of you. I will definetly save some green then... Get then from E-Bay or someplace much cheaper than the dealer. Buttheads charging almost a hundred bucks I figured it was something major. Thanks for the help...

Not a Blowhole
On my 2G TL, the front flaps flexed enough over time to abrade the paint. I found this out when I pulled them to have them painted to match the satin silver paint. I had to polish it out with 3 grades of polish to get the clear shiny again. I coated the flaps with clear silicone grease as a precaution when I re-installed.
Just an FYI.
The 2G TL needed flaps, esp in the rear. But I have found the 3G doesn't really need them, as the tires are almost completely enclosed by the body sheet metal. Since flaps are ugly except on truckls and Outbacks and SUV's, I passed on the ones for the 3G. But if I were to use them, I would definitely buff them, prime, then shoot them with one-step body color paint with flex additive in it.

As RR suggests, the flaps can be painted body color which is what I originally was going to do. However, I found that the flaps matched the tire color quite well, so I just left them. My paint has not yet been scratched by them either.
