Much better looking Carbon Fiber that what is in the Type S right now.

Guys,

I invested in the complete carbon fiber interior kit. And I have to say, it looks MUCH better than the fake crap that's in the Type S now. A few members expressed concern about it looking too gaudy, but I've got to tell you, I think it's a real upgrade from what comes standard (in my opinion).

Seriously, if you look at the fake carbon fiber in the Type S now, it looks so dark, you can't tell the difference between the black and the silver fiber weave. Well, now you can !!!

Looks alright. Definitely different. Where did you purchase it? How much did it cost you?

Pretty neat. Were they overlay pieces.. or were they parts made of CF that you replace with?

Wait--off topic but wow! the Type-S has stitching on the leather-door-panels? I never knew that...

Also ... isn't that big button by the VSA for the fog lights? Your TL doesn't have fogs?

Yes on the stitching.

Fog light switch is on the light stalk (I assume all '07's and '08's, but could be just TL-S).

Steven: Also curious about source and cost.

My 06 TL also has the fog light switch on the light stalk.

I agree with Ballin. Looks good and I would like to know the source and cost as well.

That is not a button, it is a free area for you to wire a button to it if you wanted to. Like the DVD/NAV conversion button to kill the DVD player. That's just an example.

Oh I see... I thought it was originally a button in some TLs. Again thanks for clarifying.

Yep I agree. I think the carbon fiber in the Type-S looks good from the factory. I bought my Type-S about two months ago and love it. But as long as you like it, then that's what matters.

Guys, here's the details....

First, these are pieces that come in the kit. They are precut (VERY well done) and they already have 2 sided tape on them. You just peel off the other side and place on the car. They are flexible pieces, so they're easy to position and put on the car.

Second, my Type S is a 2007, so the fog light switches ARE on the turn signal, so that extra space is not where the fog light switch goes.

Guys, let me tell you-this really looks good in the car. It's not overdone. They pieces are real good quality, they're flexible-so they're easy to place. They just go on top of the pieces already there on the car. You just peel the tape off the back on put on !!! You're done.

Here's another picture of the center console. This was done so well that the manufacturer even put the DTS logo and the ELS logo on the Carbon Fiber pieces.

You might think this is too much, but if you don't like it, you don't have to put it on the car.

Edit by Admin Ron A: A portion of your text was deleted. If you want more information, send me a PM.

For me it's CF overkill, but just as long as you like it, it looks fine.
I would really have to see it in person, but the stock CF matches the dark interior plastic color better.

korrupted, I totally understand what you're saying. It IS a matter of taste. For me, the fake carbon fiber in the Type S now wasn't cutting it for me. It was obviously fake-you couldn't see the differentiation between the black and silver threads. So this is definately a step up. But again, it's not for everyone's taste.

izmyttz, this is exactly the same kit I got. This kit has more pieces, but it's exactly the same. The thing I DON'T like about this one is that it has pieces that cover the chrome trim of the center console. But hey, for $215.00, you don't have to use the pieces you don't want to use.

Hey, I was looking at your link more. If you go to his site, it shows this kit is for 2004-2006 TL's. If you decide to get it, be sure to call them first to insure it fits on 2007 and 2008 TL's.

it may look like the same kit but the one i posted is "REAL Carbon Fiber" not a print that is made to look like one. The layout schematics are all the same..but some are real and some are fake carbon ..you got the fake one.

izmyttz, you've challenged me to look into your URL further. So I called them direct to inquire about this. The kit for $215 is NOT for a 2007 or 2008-it's for a 2004-2006 model TL. Plus, the kit shown in your URL is NOT the real carbon fiber kit. The real stuff is more expensive. But still, that is a very good price. I inquired about the kit I got-I was told this is real carbon fiber. There you go.....

yeah i called them too..some foreign lady disconnected from me..didn't bother calling back. The ebay auction is misleading then. Because they have sample pictures of real carbon fiber dash kits. Nevertheless. I also really don't think it matters o4-08. Please point out what differences in the dash and console they made for the 07-08? None that I know of.

Not to be a jerk, but it is definately fake carbon fiber like the stock Acura stuff. I don't care what the salesperson says...

THIS is real carbon fiber. See the difference??

izmyttz, you know...I've got to say-you could have been done this alot different and alot better. Instead of bashing what I have in my car, you could have just posted another possible alternative. You really didn't need to downgrade mine. My whole reason for posting these pictures and information is because I really like the kit I got. Giving other Acurazine members as much information and pictures is what it's all about. That way, they can make a logical, reasonable decision for their own car.

I don't appreciate you charging in here, knocking my car and my accessories and getting this posting off base and off target. Everyone on this website posts in good faith and a positive approach. Everyone tries to help each other-because our common love is our Acura TL's. It's a shame you didn't do the same.

His bashing your kit was not tasteful, but I do have to agree with him that whoever sold you a trim kit as genuine CF is full of crap. The kit you posted pictures of is fake CF. Sorry!

Actually re-reading all of this, I dont think izmyttz is out of line at all. He is just saying, you guys are promoting a real CF kit that is not in fact REAL CF. If you say this simulated CF looks better then the stock simulated CF, then fair enough, but do not advertise it as something that it is not.

You know...I still think mine looks good-whether it's real or not. I'm not really worried about it's authenticity. Plus, I'm not "advertising" this. Someone asked where I got it and how much did it cost.

Do you like the pictures in this thread better?

https://acurazine.com/forums/show...al+carbon+fiber

I still think I like mine better. For my taste, the pics in this post are too much for me, but that's my taste. And that's what it's all about. It was just right for me !

Steven Bell, just wanted to say thank you for bringing it up to let other Aziners know. I see a lot of tension in this thread, and people kind of need to cool down.

Yes, we establish it was fake, move on. Decide if you want it or not, enough bashing please and thank you.

IMO, fake or not definitely an upgrade from stock.

A CF/Aluminum interior look is nice, but, IMHO, there is too much carbon (too many peices) in the kit. A *few* well selected peices would be great, but the amount in the kit is over-kill.

SB, that's not too say the CF doesn't look good or the install doesn't look good; I'm just saying, if it were me, I wouldn't use the whole kit.

CF door sills sound nice. AND so do CF Pedals - get to work on that Al.
