Does anyone know about registerig my TL in the state of Washington? Will I pass Washington's Emission Check Program with a CAI installed? I am moving there for my wife's new job.

Actually i think you still do emission tests at the dmv, at least last time I bought a car I had to, you should easily pass with a CAI, they just hook a sensor up to your exhaust and run it on a dyno type thing, thats it!

I live in Spokane, and I can tell you that all cars MY 96 and up are checked for 2 thiings; gas cap, and engine readiness, (DTC's), so providing that you scan for codes and have a good cap you will pass just fine. If the check engine light is on or codes are stored in a readiness state soon to trigger the light, you will fail. There is no drive test, and no test thru the exhaust pipe, thats for ODB 1 cars now.

She will be working at WaMu Downtown Seattle and I will be working from home. We might buy in the city or maybe Mercer Island.

Hey there, I have a CBP 07 TL-S... I work in Bellevue right off I-90 (across the bridge from Mercer Island). Anyway, you may not need to get an emissions test at all. I believe that according to this page, cars newer then 5 years old don't need to be tested. You'll need to get your car inpected by the State Patrol who just makes sure you have a clean title and that your car isn't stolen. Anyway, welcome to the great state of WA.

I will not be in Seattle for another 150 days. I am still in SoCal getting the house ready to sell. I would like to meet with some new friends when I get up to Seattle so I will watch the boards. I will make the first meet when I do get up there.

Welcome to WA.... and yes, this statement here is true. for a car less than 5 years old, it would not require an emissions test to register. and i dont think you would even need to get inspected by WSP either . the only time ive heard of required inspections by WSP were on rebuilt/total loss or stolen titles.

by the way, i noticed you are running Teins w/ EDFC....what are you using for a front strut bar? thanks

They don't put your car on a dyno, or put anything in your tail-pipe, unless your car doesn't have OBD-II (96' +). At least that's how it is here in SW Washington.

They just connect to your OBD-II port, and connect a device on your gas cap. They've never opened the hood on any of my cars.

You only need to check emissions every other year, once your car is 5 years old. The only exception is if you bring your own car to be registered in Washington. Then you need to have it pass emissions prior to getting registration moved.

Technically you are also supposed to get a safety inspection by the state police, but when I moved, they never bothered me with that.

That's only true, if you car was originally registered in WA. Otherwise, you'll need to get an emissions check prior to moving the registration. That's what I was told, and had to do, when I first moved here, and my car was only 3 years old.

Marcus from Heeltoe is making a custom one to sell.

I will call him Tuesday and see when he might have a sell date on the strut bar.

Yes that is completely true, in 2001 I bought a 98 Jetta from Cali and had to go get it ran on the dyno with the exhaust sensor hooked on, even thought it was obd2
