Motorcycle PUNCHES HOLE in side door!!! (pic)
So someone out on a test ride of a new Harley can't make the left turn back into the driveway and punches into the side of my dad's PARKED 3 month old Redondo Red TL. The person on the bike has insurance and felt really bad, but to say they least he's been pretty bummed out lately as now he has to deal with the headaches of insurance estimates and getting it fixed. The front door with the HOLE needs to be replaced without a question and it would be optimal to replace both doors. But who knows. Now he's talking about selling the car since he knows it will never be the same, even with new doors.

Sorry to hear this. I feel bad for you and your Dad. But, if this motorcycle accident only hurt two doors and lower kits, after the replacement, the car should be as new as it was, right? Did anything else get hurt besides these doors and kits?
Why sell it?

if you go to a reputable body shop the car will be just as good if not better than before. just make sure you go somewhere you know will do good work. it seems like most dealership body shops put out subpar quality repairs. i would go to an independent bodyshop. try to find one that also builds show car so you can assure yourself a good job.

That's so sad to see, Bill. As others have said, as long as nothing else was hurt other than the doors, the car should be the same once repaired. Count yourselves lucky that the guy who hit you had insurance, lived to tell the tale, and was willing to stay behind to leave said insurance information.

I had a similar experience with my old Honda Civic. I found a good body shop, and they literally made it look like NOTHING had happened. Hopefully, you can do the same, and this will one day be a distant memory.

it's so easy to say "that it'll be good as new" however in my experience, with Honda, Acura, and Private "reknowned" body shops, the car has never been good as new. Paint has peeled, paint has bubbled, body panels aren't in alignment, color hues never match, things rattle, creases are unequal. I have NEVER had a body shop job ever come out looking less that just CRAP, and I've certainly been to enough shops with all the times people seem to gravitate to my car.
I can certainly feel the pain of having to have a brand new car fixed and then wanting to sell it. It will never be the same and it has just lost its resale value as being a damaged car. It's the same as the people who say they don't want a Reman tranny in our "brand new cars", why should "I have to take a used part in a brand new car".. Dunno.. but I'd be pissed and sad too.
