Motor mount life expectancy 2007 TL's?

I was wondering if there is a ballpark figure as to how many miles the motor mounts last for? I just recently purchased a 2007 TLs with 38000 miles and started to do some routine maintenance things. As i was looking under the hood/car i found that the passenger side and front mounts were starting to go bad. I know it is subjective to how the car was driven which i dont since i just purchased it. But im just tryin to figure if its worth replacing with stock again or replace with aftermarket? The car is a/t and pretty much a car that i'll cruisin more than driving aggressively. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks guys.

not sure how long they should really go for but it ought to be a hell of a lot longer than 38k

I have a 2007 with 95,000 and my top mount on passenger side is bad. I replace evrything OEM because I have friends that work for Acura but I also think OEM is the way to go always. Just my opinion.

They are known for going bad prematurely.

Thanks for all the feedback. In all the cars that I have owned, this is definitely weird. I hope that it was just a case of a bad batch of mounts? I'll probably go with stock mounts. Don't want my whole car to vibrate too much. Thanks again.

Not to my knowledge...I wish they were...it's a wear item that is subjective to your driving style. Plus my car is an 07 so even if it were covered...the amount time in between wouldn't Loow me to qualify.

^ i dont think they are covered. i think a lot of people would be taking advantage of it if that were the case..honda/acura would be losing money on both parts and labor.

There have been TSBs on the mounts. Mine were recently changed at 26k miles. I just bought the car, a 2008 Certified used car, in September, with 19,500 miles on it. I recommend that anyone with a TL with motor mount problems, regardless on mileage or age, check with an Acura dealer. There have been upgrades made in the mounts. Hy

Read your manual. My 06 TL passenger mount was replaced under the powertrain warranty. I don't remember the mileage but I think it had about 60k when the work was done.

It depends on your driving habits. I have 104K on my 08TL and all 3 are original.

I don't know what exactly you mean, or how hard your car jerks but it's completely normal for all 04-08 TLs to kind of take awhile to actually shift into D when you are in Park or Reverse.

It's pretty simple. Inspect the mount for tears, rips in the rubber, leaking and movement as the motor moves (revving).

Mine were obvious.. maybe a little less so on the front mount because under a load you couldn't see a tear in the rubber. However, there was movement that should not have been there. Gave it away.

Just traded in a 2002 Accord V6 with 2 of 3 engine mounts busted and this is exactly what it looked like:

with it varying depending on which mounts are broken...you should see something along those lines

useless info: traded it on a 2012 Accord and still have my 2008 TL.

Thank you soo much! You saved me a ton of money! I just called Acura and they said my car was covered under the warranty. Thanks again!

As stated above...there are a number of things that can give it away. Jerking depending on which mount or mounts are broken and leakage. Mine didn't jerk, it was starting to leak. I did the test as shown in the video above and thats what was happening to my car....just not as bad. I opted to take are of it right away because I didn't want them to completely fail and ruin the other 2 mounts.

The jerk that you may be experience is engaging the gas too quickly as the transmission is trying to get into gear. I have to wait a few seconds before taking off when getting into gear. I've been told by an Acura mechanic that it is normal for these cars.

Sorry for the wrong information about the mounts not being covered by warranty. The only issue is that your car has to be within the 7 year/100,000 mile from my understanding. My car is 2 years shy and 60,000 for the total mileage for that warranty.

Motor Mounts and Transimission mounts are 100% FOR SURE covered under the 6-yr/70,000 mile standard power train warranty.

I just had a trans mount replaced at ~57,000 miles under warranty.

Thanks for the clarification on the exact amount of years and/or miles. Again, sorry for the misleading information that i've provided.
