Just break out the good ol phone book and start calling
Many in your area
ask about warranty
Most have very close price becasue they get the glass from same place and the labor is about their overhead
My glass guy is on a sidestreet on the edge of civilization of town- next to my "paints parts for a 20 and a 6 pack guy"~

Thanks for the reply. I am hoping to get some input from someone with direct experience, positive or otherwise, for a specific company. If at all possible, I'd like to give my business to someone for whom I can get one or more positive referrals. Not essential or fool-proof, but a step in possible rip-off avoidance.

OK, I've done a little research and contacted a small handful of places. Quotes ranged from ~$250 to over $400. I've got these guys coming buy tomorrow:

Their quote is $291. I didn't get that lack-of-confidence feeling you sometimes get when you call a business and they just sound incompetent or disorganized. So far, so good. I'll post here when the job is done.

Looks like they have all the right training and guarantee- they probably throw in a free chip repair as part of the warranty too

Did you see the coupon?

I hope you don't go blind when you visit their website (the chosen colors are not the best), but after all what you need is a windshield repair.

DO NOT USE SAFELITE OR ANY OTHER MOBILE SERVICE! I got a free windshield replacement through GEICO because after 2 years my windshield was pitted from being sand blasted on the highway etc. I requested an OEM windshield, and had a reputable auto glass company in my area aproved by GEICO to come to the dealership and replace it while my TL was getting serviced. At the very least, ensure you get OEM glass, regardless of who you have do the repair. Mine was fully covered, and all I had to do was ask for replacement.

Job is done. The glass is not OEM. Visually, it looks flawless inside and out. I haven't driven the car yet. $265 with that coupon.

btw, I also got my windows tinted over the weekend. 35% all the way around.

I give a road report if any issues come up.
