As much as I dont like to support Chinamart, you cant beat them with motor oil prices.
I use Castrol Syntec for 19.97 or Pennzoil Plantium 18.97. Used m1 once and wasnt impressed.
As for my avatar, I cant find synpower anymore.

Mobil 1 is the only way to go. At 22 dollars a quart, it's a steal. I change the oil once a month 5000 miles. I always keep my receipts for documentation of each change. The last car got me 150k on mobil 1 without an ounce burned. Stick with what you know works.

Holy over-kill batman. Mobile 1 is designed to go for 10k+ miles per change. You can get 5 qt of Castrol GTX 5W-20 for under $10. I've used it on my wife's car doing the oil change ~7k miles with great success. We have over 110,000 on that car and it doesn't burn a drop. It also comes out nice and golden in color after 7k miles.
That said, I've been using Mobile 1 in my 'vette since the the first oil change and it's got 80k on it and going strong too. I think the whole synthetic vs. dino stuff is just smoke and mirrors in a non-turbo charged car personally.

Overkill??? Maybe. I am not worried about the oil breaking down but I am worried about the filter. A lot of studies showed that the oil filter doesn't last as long as stated. I may be wrong but I think 5k is a good time to change the oil no matter how old or new. I change my wifes lexus with about 2000 miles every four months. Better be safe than sorry. Time has an effect on oil just as much as miles do. Most people overlook that.
