Mobil 1 Extended Performance? You see it yet?

Has anybody seen the new Mobil 1 products at their local Pep Boys (Etc...)? For as many commercials as I see, I though they would have it for sure. NOPE. Also, is there a cost premium for the extended performance oil? With regular Mobil 1 (roughly) at about $5 a quart, does anyone know if the EP is more???

However, I did finally see the Mobil 1 5w-20 that has been out for at least a month now. They did not have any out "loose" but there were cases of it.

Just wondering...

I saw the standard and 7500 mile formula at the local Wallyworld(walmart) in 5 quart jugs. Same price, I picked up the regular Mobil 1 thou.

I've seen it at Walmart in Kennett Square, PA. It's about $3.00 more than the 7500 mile stuff for a 5 quart jug.

It has been at my local WallyMart for about a month. I suspect it will be quite a while (if ever) before Costco handles it.

yeah wal-mart has lots of it. A huge 4-pallet display of it at my local one.

Personally I think 7,500 and especially 15k is way too long to keep any oil in an engine, but that's just me.

I agree, but there is certainly nothing wrong with using the "15,000 mile" oil and only keeping it in the engine for the MID calculated range which should probably never exceed 7500 or 8000 miles. The add pack would look pretty puny by 15,000 miles, I think.

ya that's kinda retarded, I saw an oil filter that said it lasted like, 20,000 mi, I was like, OK. I guess u could get an oil change and keep the filter

I do not like the trend of Mobil1 UOA's that i have seen at BITOG - the wear metals look elevated to me, compared to even the best minoils. With a few exceptions, the GF-4 formulated oils (SL spec) do not look so great. The Motorcraft, Havolines, and some others have posted terrific numbers, by comparison, for a fraction of the price of M1. So I am not likely to be drooling over any Mobil1 product at this point.

Before you start sending me PM's or "Omigosh" posts, I suggest you visit Bob is the Oil Guy, join, and look at the "Used Oil Analsis - Gasoline Engines" and see for yourself, as well as compare to other products. No doubt, the M1 p[roducts can be used for extended drain intervals, as the TBN is high enough to sustain a MiD, a Mercedes OCI computer, or any OEM spec - the question is, would you want to?

Note: I am not saying M1 is bad - far from it. Each oil reacts differently to an engine design. And M1 will never be a threat, since any lube is good enough to meet OE specs. But from a cost/benefit point of view, and in comparison to the best UOA's i have seen, across a broad range of engines, the M1 products are not winning me over. As I have stated many times, 20 years ago, M1 was head and shoulders above the rest - it was essentially the only game in town. That is not true today, for any synoil over today's best minoils, other than in the area of service LIFE.

My local Pep Boys had the extended performance the other day finally.... Only in 15w-50 though, I think it was... I'm sure the other weights will be coming shortly...

Price that day of normal Mobil 1 was $5.26. The extended performance was $5.70, so there was a small premium.

Just an FYI.
