Mercedes C300 vs 2006 Acura TL
Ok so my friend has a c300 and he thinks he can beat my 2006 AT TL. He keeps nagging me to race him and he wants to throw some money on it. I might do it just to shut him up. Im pretty confident i can beat him. His car has a 3.0 with 230ish hp? but is RWD. So the question i had is who do you guys think will win because i dont want to throw away 20 bucks lol. And if i do race him should i do it from a roll or a dig? Only performance mod a have is greddy evo 2 catback. Thanks in advance
P.S. it is going to be on a closed road with no traffic and under safe conditions

Here is what I found.

Seems like the Benz is a low 15 second ride at this track. The race will be closer than you think through 1st and 2nd gear. 3rd gear you will pull as the benz was only trapping 91.xx. and has only a 18mph gain from the 1/8th to the 1/4 mile. The TL Auto usually has a 20mph gain. With just catback exhaust your TL Auto should be pulling a very high 14 second 1/4 and trapping 94ish. My money is on the TL from a dig or a roll

I've spent some drive time in both on separate occasions and IMHO the TL -- in this particular instance -- should walk away from the C300 as the speeds increase. (NOTE: It won't be as big a cakewalk as one would think.) If it were a C350 then, I'd have to give the nod to the C.

In this case, the TL should walk the C300.
For the C300 that equivalent to the Civic in Honda world is right, but most people buying those are not to out perform the other in the same class. They are maybe those people with just want an A-B car that has nice design, the look can be subjective. Obviously if they can get a C300, they then can afford a fully equipped Accord for an instant. I know one who drives the Benz for status (due to her job and she can easily parks at tight spot) and the other one is for the service he got and both are making more than most of us in here.

ive played with the new c class benz in my tl-s. not sure if it was the c300 or c350, leaning more towards the c350
the benz jumped the gun on me but i reeled him in and walked him as the speed neared triple digits. this was awhile ago when i only had the rv6 jpipe v2
good luck OP, pretty sure your results will be similar to mine.
edit: race him from a roll

There is weight transfer whenever you launch a car that moved its CoG backward. This unloads a FWD driving tires & loads up up those on a rear wheel drive giving the RWD much better traction out of the hole.
When I was active in NHRA with sponsored cars one on the first things we did was pull the stock front shocks for 90/10's so the front could raise faster helping to speed this transfer & get as much weigh as possible on the drive wheels. We also ran special weight transfer shocks on the rear axel.
BTW: these are very dangerous for use on a street car.
