McCulloch 8000k HID's installed on 06T
I know there was some threads about what color 8000k's actually looked like. Well...here it is...put these in a couple of months ago and have had no issues. Again...NOT as bright as factory 4300k's but I really dig the color
Need to remove the Torx screw (this view is the drivers side headlight accessed from the inner wheel well...turned the steering wheel to the far right to get more space. You don't really need a torx screw driver to take this off. I used a flathead about 4-5mm wide, wedged it b/w the teeth of the screw head and slowly turned. There is enough tension to undo the screw.
Here's the HID connector detached from the factory HID bulb. twist connector to the left and pull straight back (you can see the notches in the connector). Once you have this off, then release the skinny shiny silver retaining wires (one on each side of the bulb...push in then out and they will rotate out of the way downwards) You can see these wires in the pic in the foreground. Carefully pull out the bulb and replace w/ the aftermarket bulbs. Install in reverse order.
They look alot bluer in the pics than they really are. This color temp bulb still throws a good amount of light but the cut off point is not as defined as the factory 4300k's.
one more thing...If you try to install these, DISCONNECT THE BALLAST WIRING HARNESS FIRST!!!! You can access these from the engine bay (I chose not to disconnect my battery because I didn't want to reset my audio system).
Hope you guys like! Oh yah..no sweat from the 50's just yet. "Yes officer...I bought the vehicle equipped with HID!" Just thought I'd throw that in..best friend is LAPD...it pisses him off! haha

hey kin,
No, not at all. Service manual tells you to, but you don't need to. Just access through the wheel well and you'll be good. Helps if you have small hands. I recommend sticking a small digital camera through and snap some shots so you know what your are touching because once your hand is reaching in there, you can't see crap! Remember to turn the wheels the opposite way to get more space..if not, then take the wheel off completely (probably can see in there better...but not necessary).
