"Manufacturer" under TEXAS or other state license plates?
hello
i saw this rx-8 on 610 earlier this week in houston, tx and on the license plate it had the word "MANUFACTURER" BIG LETTERS under the "TEXAS" word any idea what the "manufacturer" means or is?? i've had seen a crossfire before they came out and it had "MANUFACTURER" on the license plates as well in sugarland thanks! |
They are like dealer plates, but for the vehicle manufacturer. Both serve a useful purpose, since it allows a license plate to be affixed to the vehicle so it doesn't get stopped by the police for driving without a plate.
Usually used by manufacturer's for transporting, but also sometimes for testing, and other times so they can drive the vehicle for personal use and not have to register it. |
It was probably a dealer rep driving the vehicle.

Yeah Im from houston as well and Ive seen those before. Ron is right, they are temp plates that they have to install in order to operate the vehicle on the street.

I saw an avalanche about 6 months or so before they were "out" with a manufacture tag on it, I asked the guy about it, and he said that he worked for chevrolet, and he had the car for a few months already and was doing some test driving of it.

Nope... Nothing. It was far enough along, everyone new what it was, they just weren't at dealers yet...
