Will these fit in the headlights if you made a smaller version? I like how the LEDs are big and bright instead of the small ones offered in the led strips for the headlights...

Let me take a guess looks like you ordered your LEDs and optics from dealextreme? Just curious I didnt see you mention which driver your using? I hope your not just using resistors? If so research thermal runaway lol!!

Did anyone know the Audi LED lights use a fan with ducts to cool each LED?

not exactly but i'm making some good progress on a similar project as the OP that should be a winner but I will no reveal until finished. I haven't had my TL together in over a month I have my bumper and 4 TL headlights laying in my living room lol. If it fails I will look toward the headlights though.

How long are we going to have to wait for the finished result?

lol well i'm almost done! I will post pics and everything but I think i'm gonna keep some of my process a secret I don't think many people would take on a project this involved anyways. The R&D was the hardest part and the most expensive I want to have a unique mod for at lease a little while.

Hey I contribute a lot! I always document what I do post pics and have a few pretty well followed DIY's that have helped the community greatly. In fact I like sharing so much I probably wont be able to hold back anyways. I just don't plan on a full out DIY for this one.

I like this quite a bit, although I must be honest, I bought a TL for the sole purpose of not wanting to be another guy in a Beamer or Audi. Now I'm finding myself wanting to mod my TL to look like one... Atleast now when i actually make a decision I'll have a great DIY guide. Mod looks great, nice work!

Wow those new pictures are way better than the ones before, i like them but i think they will look a lot better if you do only like 5 LEDS's instead of 9, dont you think, i think 9 is an overkill but thats my personal opininon. Looks good tho...

you're correct. the LED itself doesn't create heat, but the circuit board is where all the heat comes from.

Not true my friend. There was a time when LEDs created little to no heat and this was around the same time they were only being used as blinking lights on the front of your computer. Todays Hi power LEDs can create tremendous amounts of heat. Thermal management of LED arrays is one of the single most difficult design challenges faced today. High power LEDs must be mounted to some type of aluminum or copper heat sink and thats not even enough sometimes when they are inclosed in a headlight for example. Audi headlights incorporate ducts and a fan driven cooling system and even they have failures. Without proper heat sinking and voltage regulations LEDs can easily go into thermal runaway (basically the hotter they get the more current they draw an endless cycle until they burn up!)

True, make sure read all tech. specification or documentation of their LED before making high powered LED light.
LED Driver is important too it could create lots of heat or shorten life of LEDs.
I make my own circuit board that connect 3LED in series due to power from battery.

As a janitor? Sill doesn't mean you have any idea what your talking about. I'm stating facts not opinions the heat generated from leds has nothing to do with the heat generated from the driver on the circuit board in fact the driver doesn't have to be anywhere near the led. Drivers can get hot too though, all depends on your power source and how much energy you need to dissipate as heat
