Matte black tires is where it's at anyway. This ain't the 90ies.

Magic Eraser is made from Basotect, a proprietary melamine open-cell form. For the lay person, a translation - IT'S FUCKING SANDPAPER.

Any success garnered with a Magic Eraser will fall victim to the Peter Principle in that "Anything used successfully will be used repeatedly to the point of failure" (or something to that effect), and that's PRECISELY what will happen here.

Claiming no damage to leather is completely false - you have stripped a fine layer of the OE coating from the wheel. From the tannery, leather is either dipped or sprayed with a combination of ceramic and acrylic resins. Lexol, Meguairs, and the like are only a SECONDARY means of protection to the base coating provided at the time of fabrication.

Any application of ME will serve as a short-term clean-up at the expense of accelerating wear.

I had to use Magic Eraser to get rid of some markings and it worked really well with a light touch, but it should not be part of your regular cleaning routine. It's an abrasive and any time you use it, you've stripped a light layer of coating of either protectant or the material itself.

I used diluted dawn soap and a tooth brush for this. Leather stays looking healthy and no damage will be done from one cleaning. Maintain it afterwards with leather cleaner and you're golden.
