Luxury Sport Sedan Comparison Road Test (What happened to the TL?)

Motor Trend

Why aren't the TL and the G35 being tested?

not even in the same class price wise....

(higher price <> better )in every case but you have to draw the line somewhere to compare.

Most likely because they are testing new and/or significantly updated models. The TL hasn't had any major changes since intro and the G35 is due for replacement the end of this year.

Good Question, the simple answer is that those three cars have been compared to each other in Motor Trend ever since the IS300 came on board. Its nothing against the TL or the G35. We (they) need to wait until Acura beefs up the TL engine anyway for another comparison. 270 was great in 2004, but 300+ is the ticket in 2006.

Kind of makes you wonder how much HP is really going to be enough. In 5 years, am I gonna be looking for cars that have 400+ HP?

Either that or 120 HP biodiesel-electric hybrids, the way gas prices are going.

When I was a kid at the start of the '70s, the Boss Mustangs, Z-28s and Hemis gave way to the Pinto, Vega and Pacer while the Toyota Corolla and Datsun B210s were ramping up. It took 20 years for the hi-po ponycars to come back, and 30 years for the hi output family cars to regain their performance.
Enjoy the TL and the horsepower while we've got it!

In 5 years??? Crap, I've been looking for cars with 400-500HP since I was old enough to drive.

Currently, not to many will handle the kids when needed and if do I can't justify the cost.. I would take the new M6 if they gave it to me for $50K.

Any comparison test needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

My take:

Essentially, drive the cars yourself. Other people are going to have different needs and priorities.

I'm working on a better way for people to sort out which car is best FOR THEM. The first step is a comparison survey, here:
