Are you talking about the courtesy lights in the lower part of the door?

Most people just replace the bulbs with LED's, plug and play. Takes all of 2 minutes to do. In my TYPE-S I changed mine to red. You can do a search for the bulb size, I wanna say 198. Check out this thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/definitive-led-thread-all-youll-ever-need-know-about-leds-3g-garage-g-076-a-633045/

Easy to do man. the covers just pop off with a screw driver. might want to use a thin cloth to cover the door some so it doesnt get scratched. pull out bulb and put in new one. pop cover back on....your done. I have blue led's in mine, looks sharp.

if you swap that light out, you might as well swap all the interior lights out...trust me, it will be worth it!

and i think the size is 194 not 198

V-LED's make some top notch LED's, you may have just gotten a bad set or something because everything I have from there has been spot on thus far. Contact their customer support, they're usually pretty good.

I replaced mine with blue LED's also, I bought them from SuperBrightLEDs.com

I went with the 921-x12 model in blue and they look great. It's kind of annoying though because I get more compliments on that super easy and cheap mod from all sorts of non-car people than I do from all the other high priced and difficult to install mods...lol

Yea, they are 194, wasn't sure on the exact number. You can also change out the map and dome lights.

and while you are at it, you might as well swap out your license plate lights (this one makes a huge difference) and your reverse lights

You'll be fine with 194's all around. The first time I did mine, 194's were all I needed.

ok sorry to be a pest but what is the difference between 194's and 921's that fit into 194 sockets? how come the 921s are so much cheaper? are they less bright?

i am really thankful for all your help, i'm just really confused with all the choices

One thing I am unsure of is...
Are the reverse lights the same as the rest (vanity-mirror, domes, maps, doors, license and trunk)?

In the thread I just posted it doesn't say... but a member in that same thread states that the doors can be put in the reverse.
Not sure if he's just using that as an example... or if the reverse is indeed the same bulb.

Use the LED panels for those locations. They come with adapters for all bulb types and they put out nice light:

Those are the 30LED panels, which are currently on clearance at V-LEDS: http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...-p5168719.html

I am using the same lights as blkaspec for reverse and license plate---I recommend them, as well.

I've been so hesitant to buy those to go in the dome lights, I guess I kind of like the filament look on my camel interior lol Now would be the time to buy those, as supplies are limited.

(not the one that mglax posted though)

Taken with my N97 at night.

Theoretically wouldn't a bulb, such as a 9-LED-'tower' bulb be brighter?

Just recently switched my LEDs around...
I now have:
Two(2) 3x6 LED Panels in my vanity-mirrors.
Four(4) 6x8 LED Panels in my dome/map-lights (two[2] front and two[2] rear)
Two(2) 9 Wedge/Tower LED in my lower doors.
One(1) 3x6 LED Panel in my trunk.
Two(2) 9 Wedge/Tower LED for my license plates.

I have two(2) 9 Wedge/Tower LEDs left...
Previously was using the 3x6 LED Panels for my license plate--but due to the way it was mounted wasn't getting the full amount of light. The rear was previously using the 9 Wedge-LED. Everything is super bright now! I love it!
