Looking for a worthy replacement

I don't understand why you are even thinking about getting a new car. You want a car with the exact specs of your current car but you want to spend 25-40k on something just because it is newer? Either you have a really nice job with boucoup money to blow or you're thinking irrationally.
I think I should have made myself clearer in my original post. This is merely a window shopping exercise for me as I am not that familiar with the current car market and wanted to get some opinions and suggestions from the Acurazine community as to what would be a good and worthy replacement for my car given my recommendations.
I agree with you. It does not make a lot of sense to get rid of a decent car to get a car for the heck of it. So far nothing really impresses me and if I were forced to get a replacement today, I would be looking at a used TL with SH-AWD and 6MT.

Almost any forced induction engine will have more maintenance and higher stress load than any NA motors. How its driven and taken care of on a day to day basis is key. BMW's last. I love the 3.0L BMW puts in all their 330's and some M3's. If you are afraid of the 335 then a 330 is not a bad choice. With the dual Veinos valve timing systems you get the best of both worlds; fuel economy and performance. On another note, stay away from the x series if you can. They are more rare and the AWD system gets a tad pricey to service.

I think the OP wants a NEW car that has the TL options and any other new technologies that have come along. I would also say he probably wants reliability and might even own the car for 6+ years again.
The Accord, Camry, Altima would fit this and almost any other model in the price range. If he can compromise on performance, the TSX 6 speed would be a good choice too. Of coarse pre-owned expands the model choices big-time and then BMW could be included- but NEW you can't really include BMW for a comparable model.

true, their NA engines are a little more reliable.
Once you move on to things attached to the engine though, things become strangely unreliable. My father has an E46 325i, cousin has a E46 330i, friend a E46 M3.
All of them suffer from slow/bad window regulators. Dad's 325i suddenly started consuming quarts of oil within a few thousand miles (it has about 60k miles), his door locks work when they want, overhead fabric starting to sag, the list goes on. uncle's (now cousin's) 330i has a lame shift knob (stuck detent spring in gearbox) and a random cooling leak even though he replaced all the plastic trouble parts, also has oil consumption issue. he now rides his motorcycle more than drives that thing, my friend's m3 is still in-tact it seems.
Yeah bimmers are cool in short doses. My uncle's leased 335i is a beast. But, once you keep one long term their quality becomes evident. I have none of these issues with my TL.
btw it's "vanos"

What? The N54s are very solid motors. They had one major problem, the HPFP. That's known, been addressed, and they extended the warranty accordingly. The n55s, while still young, aren't even having those problems. And from what I see have been very solid.
"Performing on paper" and compared to a TL-S? Any n54/n55 will demolish the J35. Even most of the heavily NA/bolted examples we have here.

maybe that was a bad choice of words, yeah i meant 335is perform better than TL-S. however their overall reliability is still lower than Acura.
when did i bring up the N54 vs. the j series?

That statement certainly implied what I refuted.
I understand you were aiming at reliability though.

Buddy of mine works at Mazda dealer here in town and said the MazdaSpeed 6 should be coming out in the not too distant future. At the rate the TLX info is coming out, it may come out before or around the same time. That'll be a good one too look at too as I love the 6's design myself, just wish it had more pep in its step

I actually feel the same way myself...I don't see any new or lightly used (1-2 years) car that attracts me like the TL-S does. The only brand that catches my eye is Lexus, especially the IS and the GS. I used to love the GS, but I think the most recent model is too long, which makes it look more like the LS. The IS 350 F Sport is what impresses me the most right now.
However, as much as I like the IS, I'm not sure how I feel about the interior's overall look. It's nice, but I don't think it looks nicer than the TL-S interior, despite it being 6-7 years old. I guess I'm just biased.
As far as the recent accords, I love the redesign. However, I hate that all versions of the accord have the housings for the LED strip DRL, and yet only the touring actually uses it. All of them should have it IMO. Same for the LED brake & tail lights - in the 7th generation, LEDs were available in all the versions, and yet in this one, it's only available in the touring.

Check out the Volkswagen CC vr6. Buddy of mine just got a 2010 and it really surprised me in stability, comfort, and power. Along with a very classy and sleek design

I wouldn't consider any Volkswagen a worthy replacement for any Honda/Toyota. The CC is no exception. Poor build quality, poor overall performance (JD Power), 2010 already reports major engine problems, the cars burn and leak oil after <30,000 miles, they are expensive and in MOP, they are unattractive cars.
A good bet (but still not going to be as reliable as Lexus, maybe more so than the newer Honda's/Acura's) is the 2007+ BMW 335I.

I do like the Audi's though, but would never buy one for the obvious affiliation.

i work for lexus and drive the new IS all the time. Its nice, but its a really REALLY small car on the inside. it has like bmw 3 series space in the back. My 2010 civic had more space than that sucker. the TL is way bigger inside. thats something to consider.
the body is beautiful tho, especially the Fsport.

I went to the San Diego Auto show and found what I think is a great replacement for the 3G TL: Infinity Q50.
I really like the looks, interior, and size of this car- very close to the proportions of the 3G. You can get a model that fits your needs between RWD, AWD, and even Hybrid. The Navigation is a BIG improvement over what I have- simply speak an address and it gets it. Even more impressive was how quick a 350 mile route got computed: a couple seconds versus almost a minute in mine.
The biggest negative I can find is trunk space: 9CF .vs. 12CF that the 3G has- that's it!

I know its a ford and that id get criticism for it, but its a really nice car actually. The interior is real nice and the tech in it is great. its also faster than the 3g.
I honestly rather have one than any new acura, including the rlx or mdx.
