Sorry for the confusion. I just noticed that some members posted 20% while others posted 25% and I don't remember the exact number, so I combined them as 20/25%.
Don't worry, theres only about 4 or 5 shades available and each shade differs by 10-15% from the next. Don't worry too much about it.

hey guys
this is a little off-topic regarding window tint, but I recently got my TL tinted at Pro-Tint in Temple City and they didn't go all the way with the tint in my rear quarter window. Is this something very hard to do for the tinter? I'm tempted to go back and ask them to redo the tint for those windows. Do they have to dissassemble my rear door in order for them to completely tint the quarter window?
thanks.

datmrman: i don't know if they used felt or not. How can I tell? As far as redoing it, i think they should be able to because it's a lifetime warranty. I just wanted to know if tinting to the edge of the quarter window means they have to take my door apart in order to do it. I didn't want to run the risk of them screwing something up in the process.

Felt is applied to the inside wipers. Look at the gap between the door and the window. If you notice something that acts like a buffer between the window and the wiper, that should be it. Sorry I don't have any pictures. Can anyone confirm?
Should look something like this:
I found it on flnsx's (Official Vendor for felt) site.

thanks again for the informative pic. I will check my car during lunch today. My primary concern right now is to have pro-tint redo my rear quarter winders w/o that gap. I feel stupid now for not having them do it properly the first time. I just thought that's the way it is.

Well, I took my TL back to protint this past friday and demanded they fix the rear quarter panel. That SOB of an owner Jeff Lynn refused to do it without charging me extra for the removal of the glass in order to do it properly. After talking to him about my complaint, he finally agreed to give me half of the my money back for those quarter windows ($10) and still retain my tint warranty. I called up solargard afterwards and told them about the situation. They recommended I try another installer nearby. I called up David at Tint Zone in Rowland Heights and he said he can do it without any of the hassle.
I took my TL to Tint Zone today and Chris did the job for me in about 20 mins. I paid $20 to get the windows re-tinted properly. This coming week, I'm going back to ProTint and get the other half of my money back ($10) and tell them to fuck off. What an asshole Jeff is. If I experience any problems with the other windows later on, I rather go back to Tint Zone and have them redo it for me. I don't want to deal with Protint anymore.
By the way, Tint Zone charges $140 for all 5 windows on a sedan. So if any of you guys are interested in a installer in the San Gabriel valley who uses SolarGard, give them a call. I feel pretty confident with their worksmanship.
AVOID PROTINT in Temple City like the plague. I had to learned my lesson the hard way.

Thanks for the update. Glad that things are finally working out for you.
I'm sure your car looks a lot better now!
Make sure you get your money back first before you go off at Pro Tint.

I just wish everyone who wanted to get their windows tinted in SoCal would just read this thread and go to Best Window Tinting. There has been 4 or 5 people who has taken their car there and the results are amazing. I mean $160 for 7 windows and moleskin.......and you don't have to worry about a place messin up your windows. Cheaper isn't always better, but in Best's case it is!
If you live in SoCal don't ask about taking your car to any place other than Best in Tustin......your just wasting your $!

So I got my money back from Protint this weekend for their half-assed tint job on the rear quarter windows. I want to file a complaint to BBB now. Does anyone know if the BBB will protect my identity or will the complaint be forwarded to Protint? If it's forwarded to them, they'll mostly likely know it was I who filed the complaint. I don't want them coming over to my house and vandalizing my car if they know the content of the complaint, since they have my address. I was told by someone who used to work at Protint that they hired some guy that was recently released from jail (WTF???)
