LMZ headlight from VLEDS

I came across this today while browsing the VLEDS website:

D2S D4S LMZ 25W 3000LM HIGH OUTPUT LED HEADLIGHTS FOG LIGHTS - LED Headlights

The price is not very far from that of the Osram CBIs. I doubt anyone here has tried it as a replacement, but it doesn't hurt to ask. It also comes in a (double-sided) 4500 lumen option for $50 more. It goes without saying that this would cut out the ballast and the ignitor. Discuss.

Not too sure how long they would last. Aftermarket led Plug & play headlight bulbs are still relatively new.

I have Vleds 10xb led daytime running lights and the drivers side started to die 9 months in. Some leds burnt out. Had it replaced under 1 year warranty.

The other side started dying 2 months after I got the drivers side replaced. Same problem, about 4 or 6 leds burnt out. Also got it replaced under the 1 year warranty (started to fail 11 months in)

Here I am almost a year later and my passenger side bulb has 4 or 6 leds that are once again burnt out. No more warranty for replacements.

Drivers side is OK but it's only a matter of time..

Well that's not very encouraging. I just installed those 10 XB bulbs yesterday. Hopefully they've improved the heat management or whatever is causing them to burn out.

IMHO, keep HID's for your headlights, they warm up faster and get hotter (important if you live in a northern climate where snow/ice needs to melt off your lens) and they're proven bright and reliable. You also have alternatives to the CBI's, TRS carries all kind of D2S bulbs for varying prices.

Now if you're looking to replace your fog lights or DRL's with LED's, there are a lot of threads dedicated to that. TRS also carries some headlight/fog light/DRL capable LED's for cheaper and with a 2 year warranty.

That's nuts, are you sure don't have a leak/condensation of some kind, many LED's don't withstand the elements well?

I didn't have condensation at the time they failed. I'm sure the bulbs are just burning out due to being on so much during the day.

That's because they simply don't get hot (significantly) so they won't heat up the housing and melt snow/ice away. That's what the guy above was getting at.

I'd also check what the guys over at HIDplanet have to say about those, I've read mixed reviews/opinions about using those as main beams.

Yeah I think when speaking about HIDs, there's the confusion between "warm up" time of the actual bulb, and the heat that the bulb can produce to "melt the ice" off the lens. True though that LED's have an instant-on. They produce tons of heat! It's just that the heatsink is on the back on the bulb so that's where all the heat is dispersed

I picked up the Oracle LED conversion kit for my Accord (9006 bubs), 5000k color, says 2200 lumens per light which is about halfway between halogens and HIDs. Looks like they only use two 14 watt LED lights per bulb where others I looked at have several smaller LED lights.

Pretty white lights, noticeably better than halogens and they have an anti-glare design so they work in reflector housings.

If you use them in your foglight housings you'd probably be pretty happy with them. If you want to replace the headlights, not sure why you'd do that, replacement HID bulbs would be cheaper and a bit brighter. But for someone in my situation who would want to convert properly to HIDs (decent 4300k kit and retrofit headlights) its a much less expensive option.
