Exclamation ---LEXUS IS 350 CRUNCHED MY 06 ACURA TL!!!!!! full story with pictures!---

So here goes the story....

I'll try to make it as fun as possible to read...

But before I begin please examine the diagrams below to see the floorplan where all the cars were parked and where the collision happened.

Parked

Crunched

So it's monday night and I pull up to my girlfriends aunts house AKA, girlfriends house, and I pull into the driveway and park my car REALLY close to the grass on the driveway to allow my girlfriends aunt to be able to have enough room to back out in the morning. Well, she makes a comment and says, "Hey thanks for giving me enough room to get out in the morning...."

Now it's tuesday morning on March 13, 2007. I'm at my girlfriends aunts house enjoying my peacfull slumber having random dreams and flashback of playing a fun session of Gears of War the night prior against a bunch of my friends. 7:30am arrives and and suddenly I hear a loud CRASH outside the window!!! My girlfriend quickly pops up and say's, "Oh my god I think aunt Jane just crashed into your car!" Whats the first thing that pops into my head.... denial. In my baligerant morning voice I quickly respond with, "No she didn't, that was the garbage can man." What??? am I in third grade? GARBAGE CAN MAN.... who says that. Anyway, I look out the window and sure enough, I see I nice Lexus is 350 parked INSIDE my Acura TL's bumber... I proceed to put my head under my pillow and attempt to suffocate myself. Jane walks into the room, try's to say sorry, but I quickly interject with, "I know, I know." She doesn't know what to say and leaves the house practically crying.

I felt bad, accidents do happend and at least it was all in the famliy. She just forgot my car was in the driveway. So here is the damage assesment.

The Lexus IS 350-
-Crunched bumper
-Left exhaust has been pushed in about 3 inches and buckled at the cat

Acura TL
-Front bumper crunched
-A-spec front lip gashed by exhaust
-Right headlight broken inside and out
-Right front quarter panel buckled near headlight

So what happens now???
Well, On Thurday March 15, Aunt jane had already filed the insurance claim and I dropped off my car at the body shop for the Adjuster to come and asses the damage. I also have a sporty white Kia Optima rent a car that has the funniest horn I have ever heard. It sounds like the road runner "meep meep" sound.

On Friday March 16, I called Ron from Ronjon Sports design, and he helped me get my hands on the full RonJon kit. Made the order at 1:30 pm and picked up the kit from L.A. and got it back to the bodyshop by 4:30pm and still had time for a Del Taco run.

Now the wait is on. It is tuesday and the body shop still has not started on the car because insurance hasn't sent them a check yet. But whatcha gunna do.

Well. I want to thank you for reading this little story and I know I'm not the best story teller but I hope you enjoyed it.

-Thanks Ron for getting me that kit within 3 hours

-Thanks to My best friend Jeff Butcher for driving to L.A on his day off to get it.

-Thanks Erin my girlfriend for keeping me calm

-And thanks Jane for running into my car and giving us all something to look back on and laugh about in the future.

Here are the pics...

quick question, from your illustration up top, shouldn't the cars be facing the other way?

No, his aunt was backing out of the garage. House on left, garage on right. She was leaving home remember?

Tough break man. I thought you said your headlight was smashed inside and out tho? Unless it's the angle of the pic, your headlight looks cool. Like it just missed it. Tell the truth man...You knew Aunt Jane would be sleepy driving cause you kept HER up late the night before playing Gears of War! So you went back out and strategically parked your car over just enough where Aunt Jane would slam into it! Thereby allowing you to basically trade in that A-spec kit for a new RonJon you been having your eyes on and to clear those headlights! Ah-haaaa!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL! (just kidding playa)

Post pics when you get the new stuff on tho!

It's scary to think Aunt Jane doesn't look before she backs up...that she was pulling out of her garage is beside the point, you should always look when backing up.

Anyway, you tell a good story and I'm glad you're getting everything taken care of (and then some with the RJSD kit!)...looking forward to pics.

even though your aunt should look before backing out of a driveway, i never park my car at someone elses house. its just plain disrespectful and i wouldnt want anyone who doesnt live at my house to park their own car in my driveway

Tough break but sounds like things are being worked out amicably. It is kinda scary that Aunt Jane backs up without looking in her rear view mirror.

From your first diagrams I figured that there would be more damage but any damage on your TL is a lot of damage. On a lighter note, nice visuals and descriptions. You actually took some time to draw up your diagram w/ color and grass texture, custom driveway, bricks, the works! haha at least you now have a RJ kit

Smile Lmao!!!

Ok everyone, first off, thank you everyone for making me smile. I was scrolling through the posts and could not help but laugh at some of the stuff you guys said. It's great!

The picture I took of the front doesn't show the headlight damaged very good but the glass on the outside is scratched and the matte black section on the inside is cracked. It's no longer sealed because when I went back to the body shop, it had moisture in the housing and the right beam points WAY down when the lights are on.

As far as the comment about the driveway and how it's rude to park in the driveway...
I have a key to the house, i've been with my girlfriend for 3 years, Aunt Jane is practically my aunt as well, AND you will get a ticket if you park on the street. Plus, I was considerate enough to park WAY to the left, and All the way at the end of the driveway so she would have plenty of room. Just sayin... I wasn't trying to be rude.

Oh by the way, the use of the OH SNAP smiley.... HOLLY F-en HILLARIOUS!!!!!

Smile Pictures

When I get my car back, I think i'm going to take some of those crazy pictures again. For those who haven't seen them, i'm sure the thread is here somewhere but my picture on the left (avatar) shows the pictures I took a while back when I first got the car. I'll snap away when I get the kit on.

Oh and the out of pocket price I wont know until the insurance estimate comes in. They are paying for the front end to get fixed but i'm paying for the side skirts, and the rear bumper. So we'll see....

by the way, LMAO on the comment:

"At least she didn't keep going"

Please do....those first ones were great!

Ok...now about "Aunt Jane". I'm thinking your snoring all night played on her last nerve and combine the lack of sleep from said snoring was just too much for her. She gets in her car....opens her garage door only to see your TL "hogging" up the driveway and she just snapped!! Not any different then road rage....she just slapped it in reverse and WHAM!!!!! I'll bet for the rest of the day she had this little cheshire grin when she would think about it That's what I think happened

Don't foget those great pics

Sorry to hear what happened. Make sure that the bodyshop does good job fixing it. Make sure the parts are lined up good. Some place don't do good job putting them together.

Now you know next time you should park on the road, not in their driveway.

and get a ticket, I doubt it. next time you park the TL, park it in the dead center so if she wants to get out, you put it onto the street first so she doesn't hit it again and you don't have to hear meep meep horn for a while.
