LED Cup Holder Mod - Wiring Question

Hey guys, quick question on the cup holder LED mod concerning the wiring. So I was thinking of tapping my LED strips into the armrest cubby hole light as my power (negative/positive) and call it a day. Since that light normally comes on with the parking lights. Would that be ok to tap into those wires?

Or my other thought was tapping into the 2nd acc adapter that's located in the center armrest cubby hole. Not sure which one would be more secure to do so? Any input would be helpful on that.

You can tap into the armrest light.

Technically you may tap into red/black wire for your positive. Universal wire colour on Acuras for parking light wire.
You can tap into the red/black wire from the heated seat buttons too.

I wired mine the the auto headlights on my TL. That way whenever the exterior lights come on the cupholder LEDs light up as well.

I usually like grounding it to a bolt, but tapping to the negative on the armrest light is perfect too.

This works perfect.
I don't know where the wire for the auto headlights are, but I'm going to assume its more work to get to than the parking light wires already within a 6 inch radius of the vicinity of the cup holders.

Thanks man! I'm actually going to be tackling it this morning. I'll post pics of the outcome and let you know.

And here's how they turned out. Great mod IMO. I posted these on TL Facebook page as well.

Nice! How many LEDs did you use?

When i did mine, i installed three 5mm in each cupholder, right below the little rubber flap that keeps your drink in place. This way the LEDs themselves werent visible.

Love the look

I'd definitely do it but my cup holder is closed 99% of the time

I used an LED strip that I got off ebay and basically lined each diode and marked my holes and voila. I think the strip was a 12 inch or shorter but it's enough to wrap around the cup holder on the outside.

I'm a huge coffee drinker and I always have a travelers mug in there so mines is 99% of the time open but I must say the lid that closes the cup holder is a plus one for me in case I ever want to close the lid and not see the LED's..
