Leather Seat Material Replacement
Has anyone ever used seat material from this Ebay seller?...
Acura TL Driver Cushion Only in Leather Taupe Lt Grey | eBay
They advertise just driver and/or passenger seat material, then they make a kit for front and back seats. My driver's seat cushion has some cracking in the leather and from what I've read here, this seems like an affordable alternative to taking it to an upholstery shop.
How hard would it be to disassemble the seat to get the lower cushion on? Is there a "DIY" for that?

That pricing looks pretty comparable to a shop..

The replacement section looks pretty affordable at $230. Maybe we could get a better price since he is a site vendor? I read some of the Ebay reviews from people who purchased the replacement material and they were all generally positive. They said the replacement sections were almost exactly like the originals. Obviously that would be a very important factor in the decision on whether to buy it or not. The other factor would be how difficult they would be to install. I'm slightly handy. Getting the seat out and disassembled would be no problem. I've never replaced seat material before, but I have taken material off. I really have no experience with hog rings, but maybe it wouldn't be too difficult to figure out? I did find a you tube video online about replacing the material on the TL seats. The seller advertises that the hog ring pliers are included. I figure if I start it and find that I'm not able to do it, I can take it to an upholstery shop and have them finish it up for me. How long could that take? Can't see it being more than an hour.
I'm off Thursday. I'll stop at an upholstery shop and get an estimate on what it would cost to do the bottom seat material new. I'll post what I find out.
