Lease Buyout Thru American Honda.
Guys, please help me out. I have a friend who leased a 2006 TL. His lease is up in April 2009 and financed the lease through American Honda. He would like to keep his TL, but he wants to renegotiate the buyout price. He has heard that American Honda absolutely WILL NOT negotiate on the buyout price. He's heard they say, "the buyout price is what is on your original paperwork when you leased the car." What has been your experience? Any suggestions as to what to do?
Thanks in advance.....

He signed the contract! The buyout price is the buyout price according to the contract. When his lease is up he doesn't have to keep the car, tell him buy a TL

I've heard from a few guys who returned lease cars, only to buy them from the dealer after they were in used car inventory. They got a much better DEALER price than they did from the MANUFACTURER. But that's risky because sometimes CORPORATE moves them off the lot before ever putting a sticker on the window at the local dealership.
Talk to your dealer, see what he'll do for you. Most likely it will be much easier to negotiate with him than with Honda Corp. If he's going to put it in his lot inventory, he'll surely want to hear that you have an interest in purchasing the car.
