Kind of a strange question..

My garage door opener just konked out. It is chain driven and just old. I don't need a belt drive, because there is only a loft above it and noise isn't an issue.

Is there a good quality garage door opener that interacts with the Homelink system? I realize that I can just program any opener to it, but I want some of the Homelink features. I would like to be able to turn on a flood light that lights up my backyard from my car.

Any suggestions ?

Yes, you should go to sears and buy a craftsman or liftmaster garage door opener. Those are the same product, and very high quality.

thanks,
Is homelink a seperate system or is it a "brain" that is part of the door opener?

Homelink will learn your transmitter for your garage door opener very simply. You don't need to add anything.

Sorry, didn't read your initial post thoroughly at first. I'm not sure what equipment you need to add, but I'll be there are others on here that know it all. You might want to post a new thread and call it "homelink question". Just a thought! Good luck.
