Just looked at a '07 TL-S...

Hey Guys,

Today I just looked at a TL Type S which was in pretty flawless shape which was amazing for a car with 120km on the clock

Just a few issues I ran into while doing my inspection of the vehicle:

there is a little oil residue on the oil pan after driving the vehicle for around 15-20 minutes of driving (somewhat hard) & I'm guessing it is the oil-pump gasket going out, how much would this cost?

also I'm not too sure if the compliance bushings are ripped or not but here are some pictures & what is the cost of replacing these items?

you're feedback is greatly appreciated as I really want to get this vehicle

The leak could be from the gasket seal. With 74k miles on it you should be okay to go 25k or so until the timing belt/ water pump service. The oil pump seal is right there when that service is being done and easy to seal up. From the pics the bushing look fine from here. I would use the oil leak as a negotiating tool. If the deal is good buy it!

the leak was coming from the passenger side of the oil pan and wasn't dripping or anything like that, just a like a small lining of oil you could say, I guess its not a big deal and I should just do it when I do the TB/WP maintenance?

& thank you for your comment on the bushings, I was not too sure

I just had my oil pump gasket replaced due to same issue, oil consumption when driven hard, no oil leaks on the ground, visible oil residue on passenger side corner of oil pan. The gasket disintegrated into pieces when removed and replaced.

It is a big deal, oil pan needs to come off and re-sealed after. According to my mechanic, this is around an $800 job. I don't know how much you can save by combining with a timing belt job, check with your mechanic.

Compliance bushings, on the other hand, are easy. They cost around $30 each and a shop should be able to install for around $100 or less, if I remember correctly (shop around). You should get an alignment after.

But is this something I can put off until I do my TB/WP next year? I only drive about 5000km a year now

Yea, I put mine off for months. Just keep an eye out on your oil level after a couple of spirited runs. Mine only lost oil if driven hard in vtec mode (above 5k RPMs).

Vtec works off of oil pressure, so if it's too low on oil, and you take off hard, it can cut out when vtec tries to engage. First time this happened to me freaked me out a bit, as the car cut out and nose dived, feels like a fuel cutoff. Everything was fine, just needed a quart of oil and I was back in business. It happened to me a couple of times before I fixed it, only in 1st or 2nd gear, nothing ever broke.
