If it's a pinch nut on the strut they're cheap and they usually a replacement item since they're prone to stripping when torquing them down again. Go to acuroemparts.com to find what you need.. otherwise for something like that I would pay the premium and pick it up at your local dealer.

If it's the strut tower nut that's on top, you can get that anywhere.. just take one to home depot and find a suitable replacement or visit acuraoemparts.com as suggested. They really don't need a lot of torque unlike the pinch nuts that tie in the strut to the knuckle / lca.
sorry for the confusion - i removed the strut bar in order to get to the ignition coils in the rear. the nut i stripped was one of the three gold ones that attaches the strut bar to the strut housing. not exactly sure what to torque the nuts to anyhow but thanks for the tip.

the torque on them is only 16 ft-lbs.. call the dealership and get a quote..

8MM Flange Nut - 90361-SEP-000 (#24) - $0.30 at acuraoemparts.

for best foam results read the diy on gen3 and www.seafoamsales.com for the factory tech tips
They have more methods that the can says-- or we use so far
Ive been experimenting with their ways on the car and the bike with excellent results

Wait a week after foaming before plug change so all the treated gas has gone thru-
1 can to 1/2 tank added before you start the manifold method,
then all the crud off the valves and injectors will be done flinging around and the plugs have a nice clean home
Have fun!

anytime after 60 is ok to change the plugs NGK Iridium only!!

If you operate in severe duty like hot footing it and stop and go commute or low miles per trip, outside temp extremes etc etc- those lessen the 100k that the book says they will last
Everyone who has done them after 60 reports an increase in fuel economy of ~1mpg

good idea to start seafoam treatments at 30k miles, then once a year to keep engine running its best

erik thats not bad for everything- acura really nails you on the plugs- charging 25 bucks each while parts stores have them for 10 for exact same plug
Good to see they did the tensioner pulley!

to others- its an easy DIY spark plugs and takes an hour or so for noobs

the dealer labor adds up fast at $125 per hour!
private shops are running 80 in many places- $60 if you are lucky to find one that has enough brains to be allowed near your baby

not to mention the astronomical markup on parts.. I suggest everyone buy the parts first so you only pay labor. Call around to other dealerships and make sure the charged number of hours is the same.

its all about what they do for the price- and many shops will lowball by not including things we consider mandatory- then once the car is apart,,, you need more work~
I worked in the biz~

Most dealers dont like you bringing in your own parts- if allowed at all- and wont offer a full warranty on the job as a result- you are taking money from them!

Private shops are more open to it but since they dont provide the part (and profit) they do not have to cover labor on warranty prob with a part you brought in-
if they provide the part they cover labor on warranty too

Honda dealers can do the 105 easily and charge less labor, private shops that specialize in honda acura can do it too- I suggest the valve adjustment be done with the 105 to make the car run like new
Do the plugs and fluid changes yourself, let the shop do the dirty work and hard to reach stuff
get the most from them for your dollar

the other option is going to local azine meets and making friends with the guys doing 105s in the garage

^ very true.. I find it repulsive that Acura charges so much for labor yet only kicks the tech a small percentage depending on the amount of business they do. Not to mention the upsell tactics at some places as well. +1 on the valve adj on the 105k since they're in there already..

Just replaced my plugs with the NGK's (IZFR6k-11). Found it easiest to use a 6 inch extension and a U-joint socket for the back plugs. The U-joint ends up just far enough outside of the opening to put the torque wrench on easily. I did remove the strut brace first.

No need to remove the brace. With the right combo of extensions and joints, it's a 30 minute job and the only thing you remove is the plastic covers and the coils.

I did mine around 40K and now it's at 83K. Going to do the valve adjustment and plugs. Last time was platinums one range colder, haven't decided if I'm going to do iridiums or regular plugs but with a 40K interval, there's no need whatsoever to use iridiums and I don't have to worry about them getting stuck from being in there for so long plus I get a picture of what's going on inside of the combustion chambers more often.

The main thing is to use your brain. If you're one of those people that change the plugs at half of the recommended interval, don't waste your money on iridiums. The ONLY advantage is they outlast normal or platinum plugs. There is no performance advantage.

what a great DIY here!!!!

Just got done doing the seafoam and plug change today! These DIYs are fantastic, and removing the front strut tower arm is key, I would have been cussing for hours out there if I had not read this thread. It didnt take me but maybe a little over an hour to do all the plugs and have it running again, THANKS!

Hey trance,

Newbie here. Can you tell me how to access the "Garage" at the top, it only shows pics of cars. Also, is the DIY for plugs up yet?

Thanks!

Anybody want a DIY?

Isn't the normal time to change them at 100K? Why would you want/need to do it sooner? Car was running fine before right? They aren't cheap either.

The car will run to 100K without changing them. It does not mean it's running it's best at that mileage. I changed mine at 40K and cold idle was noticably better. I don't use iridiums because I change them every 40K. The advantage to iridiums is extended life. If you change as often as I do, an ordinary $3 plug is fine. I don't like leaving plugs in an aluminum headed engine for 100K. It just increases the chances of them getting stuck and damaging the heads. IMO, this was part of Acura marketing; a selling point of the car was the first tuneup was at the 105,000 mile mark.

Can anyone confirm if these are the correct plugs for an 05? And is this a decent price or are there any other places I can get it for cheaper? Thank you!
