Thumbs up Just had a run in w/ a Ferrari 575M Maranello

I got off work late tonight. I was a couple of blocks from my house when I spotted a red ferrari at a light. Older guy with a really hot young blonde. So I rev my engine as a joke, not expecting him to pay attention (my car backfired and it caught his attention)

So he starts revving his engine and i'm thinking in my head... Geez, when will I ever get the chance to run it against a ferrari again? Realistically? ( I know, total Fast and Furious moment )The next light is about 1 mile ahead and there were no cars ahead or behind us.

So I rev my EVO up to 5k rpm built some boost and waited for the light to turn green. I get a real good launch and I jump a car length on him. Through second gear im still a car length on him, third gear he starts to pull on me real slow and I can see his headlights near my rear door, by the time I slam my car into fourth hes at my front fender and still reeling me in. At the end of 4th gear he was a full car length ahead of me and still pushing further ahead, I gave up and flickered my lights to let him know that he owned my poor little 4 banger.

We pull up to the next light he gives me thumbs up, I wave and make the turn onto my block with a huge grin because I kept up with that ferrari in my cheap litte 4 door econobox

Yeah i'm totally against street racing too.
The road we ran it on was empty it runs along the freeway so there were no intersections for cars to pull out, just a mile stretch of 4 lane road and metal guard rails on both sides.

That was the first and last time I will run it on the streets, it was just too tempting

lol nice. How many people can say they ran up against a Ferrari? I bet a cop would even accept that kind of reasoning (lol, maybe).

Greddy Full Titanium Catback Exhaust ( weighs 9-10lbs)cost me an arm and a leg $1400 installed )
3" TTP Engineering Downpipe

3" Turbo o2 Housing
Apexi AVC-R Boost Controller
HKS high flow filter
100 octane - 76 down the street has it $7.99 a gallon

Only thing left to do is get a tune, maybe a lower/upper intercooler pipe, and an exhaust cam. After that I'm leaving the engine the way it is until there is a legitimate engine management system that works with mivec. Once my car is paid off, I plan on getting a larger turbo and a stroker and making the car a dedicated track wh0re.

He would have beat me in the quartermile considering my car redlines in 4th crossing the finish line but I guess it was pretty damn close Haha.

Whoa, I skipped over this post. Nice setup Ed. Have you had a chance to get your EVO dynoed? How much HP are you putting out?

your setup was similar to what I had on my 06 STI... well not really but similar types of mods:

Protuned
Invidia Catback
Cobb Accessport Stage 2 flash
Helix Catless test pipe
Perrin Uppipe
K&N panel Filter
And they only have 91 octane here in the O.C.

I never got around to getting a boost controller. Get that thing tuned and get it on a dyno man! I wanna see what you're putting down.

Talking about Ferrari 575M Maranello remind me the other night that i ran into a Lamborghini Diablo on a long road. I stop at a red light waiting and this Lambo stops behind me and i didn't even notice. Light turns green, so i start moving, and this Lambo just can't wait to go in front of me and start cutting like a mad man. I still have no ideas what the hell is that car considering it's a rare sh*t. UNTIL he pulls up next to me and revv his engine.... SOUNDS like crazy nice. Then he starts taking off like a jet plane....Grrrrrr....Fuuuuu. so i gear down and see if i could catch him for a closer look ONLY.. not even thinking about going against him.... I lower to 2 and start meshing on the gas pedal and the freaking plane just left all of us on the back with the next red light...and he kept flying..... i love my TL but just wish TL are fast like them...

As I am oft heard to say, please consult the website of your local road race track for high performance driving schools. Many offer 1 day- your car on track- for about $250 USD with a pro driver riding with you

Near Sacramento Ca is Thunderhill, where you often get a chance to run track days with the big F and the various German and European car names I do not care to spell.
That means flat out on the straights- where at least you get a chance to wave him past you before the braking point at Turn 1

Thanks. I will be attending a few HPDE events this january hopefully if my work schedule allows. I know what I did was stupid, cheap thrills are not worth putting others in danger. I am finished modding my car for a while, all my money will be going into learning how to drive my car and tweaking the suspension.

Im guessing with my mods untuned im running close to 300whp. Once tuned I am aiming for 350whp. There are a couple of guys running very close to 300whp on stock evo ix with just a flash. If I can run high 11's I will be happy with my current setup.

I can't wait till the Cobb accessport comes out for the EVO!

That was a good race. Your EVO can only take him initially at a stop light, on the highway he'll dust you. It was a good experience and I would have done the same.

Nice car BTW.

Hell yeah! Lol. The Accessport was the single most enjoyable mod to my STI. It'll make your EVO into a beast...

You can find 100 & 110 octane at a station off Chapman in Orange two blocks from the circle called Mitchell's Auto Service (I think that's the name). Pretty penny though

Hey you do not have it tuned yet? I had an 03 with a stroker and a larger turbo. Before the upgraded turbo/stroker I ran 11.9-(iexcelr8 on evolutionm.net).
I had a buddy who had a murcelago and I beat him by a few BTW I dynoed 451 on pump gas @20 psi after the strkoer and turbo upgrade. Keep some cash for a clutch. you will need it.

I miss my evo, sweet rides!
