Just had 105k service done. 😧

Wassup acurazine I just had my 105k service done and I just wanted to give u a little back drop on my car so I purchased my 07 type S in April of this year and it had 84,750 miles on it and being a member on here and reading through the previous threads I needed to get my car serviced. And my recommendation would definitely be going to a Honda dealership. The price was way better I have family friends that work at this particular dealership but the first price quoted to me was 1677 for the complete service but I ended up have to have a brake fluid flush, trans fluid replaced, power steering fluid replaced, and back brakes replaced. All in all I ended up pay 1868 walking out the door so my advice would definitely be Honda. If anybody lives in the Bay Area Honda of el Cerrito will take care of you ask for Mel Santiago.

Since you only posted one page of your 5 pages bill, what did you have done exactly to command a $1800+ bill? A lot of dealer's recommendations but don't know if you have them all performed. Itemized cost per service performed would be nice.

If that is all the parts that were replaced, although they say they inspected these parts, they didn't replace the idler pulley (14550-RCA-A01) nor the tensioner pulley (14510-RCA-A01). Hopefully there's a second page for the parts replaced.

Sorry for the late response, still in Japan Ima try and itemize everything that was done. And Mike TC everything on the first sheet I posted was done.

1. Main service
2.Oil change, oil filter, wiper fluids
3.Back brakes changed,and rotors resurfaced
4.power steering flush
5.transmission drain and fill
6.lower transmission hose replaced.

and TURBONUT Ima assuming that if those parts needed to be replace upon inspection he would have replaced them. Must have not needed to be done I think. U guys think I should go back and have them replace those 2 parts?

Just to ease your mind, most dealers aren't in the habit of replacing all the parts, why, I don't know, but for an extra $200 (parts) it's ridiculous not to when having it apart.
Sorry to say, the parts are similar to any other in as they may look good at 85,000 miles, but the next service is going to be @ 190,000.
Surprised that they didn't replace the two parts while in there, especially with the amount of work being done, and they certainly aren't going to spend 4 hours of their time to replace something that they felt was in good working order. The inspection could have been said with any of the components replaced, e.g. water pump, no leakage why replace, tensioner, same, no leak why replace.
It's done and they'll probably be fine for the duration.

If in the military, Thanks for the service!

It doesn't look like they changed the timing idler nor tensioner pulley. Not mentioned in the parts list and just says "inspected"
FYI i just had my timing belt service + waterpump done for
CDN $250 (rock auto Aisin kit) + $250 (labor)

you make a very valid point! And knowing money was not the problem u think he would have fixed those 2 parts, well I pray to the Acura gods everything will be ok until next service. I wanna get the inside cabin filter replaced within the next couple months so I’ll take it back to the dealership and make sure they get looked at again. Say turbo thanks for the insight I really appreciate it. And yea I’m USN I’ll be home in a month so I can drive my baby.

oh boy, here we go again with "inspected", I don't know why people cheap out (tech) when come replace the tensioner and roller on the TB since everything has to come off anyway and its literally remove an extra bolt to get the roller out. I guess it one of the reason why my RL oil pump is leaking now and the 105k service had done as of Nov 2016, I guess they "inspected" at the time of the work.... Oh well another $950 to me if it leak bad enough.

At your current mileage, I would not loosing sleep over it. However IF something fail (roller or oil pump leak really bad) before the next 105k miles then you are looking at labor cost similar to 105k service. I had the dealer replace all of roller and tensioner in my TL-S and yes just be to sure I even asked for all old parts back so to be sure every component got replaced. I bought the rollers (if I can remember there are two for TB) for additional $50 and had them replaced two cam seal and flush the radiator with the total bill come to $735, I even spend additional $250 for sealing the oil pump assembly while they got the TB/WP out and knowing it will be trouble free until 200k miles mark.

when I replaced the steering rack I even told them not to reuse the old inner/outter tire rods as I supply them with new OEM set. I spoke with couple Tech and head Tech at my local Acura dealer and they all said they like worked on my car since the car is clean inside out (even engine bay is clean).

Hell they even knock off couple hours of diagnostic fee as they spend 2 days looking for abnormal noise in my RL which in the end we found out it was the cooling fan making noise. My Base TL has slight vibration around highway speed and it turn out to be the rotor I decline the service and still got a whooping invoice at N/C ($0.00) I got a MDX loaner for couple days . I bring my own part to them for the work and only paying labor.

Is there any difference between the Rock Auto Aisin kit and an Aisin THK-002 that I could buy through Amazon?

i live in canada and my labor cost is probably the lowest. I should have said $350. My mechanic never overcharges, he constantly under charges so i just leave him a nice tip.

There are mechanics out there that do the job for cheap.
My mechanic also charged me $260 for labour to change out the timing belt and waterpump kit with the Aisin kit back in 2014.
My friend just went there and got his spark plugs, coolant and thermostat (along with the timing belt kit job) changed out for a similar rate

Maybe we go to the same mechanic, who knows
