Just bougt a TL and New To Acurazine!

Well so far I love the car. I just sold my 05 Lincoln Navigator Ultimate. It was a gas hog! And it dropped in value 13k each year I had it! YUCK! So far you guys are very helpful in modding and customizing these cars. I have had the car for 3 weeks now. So far I have added a few things to my TL. Here is a list.

2006 Acura TL Redondo Red Pearl

Type S Taillights
Smoked LED Side Markers
Backup Camera
DVD Switcher
IPOD/Direct input converter
K&N Airfilter
"Replaced cabin filter" YUCK! Nasty it was
18" MOMO'a coming in soon. I had to mail the TPS's to the rim guys to install.
8000k HID replacement bulbs...BTW they are TOO BLUE! I am investing in the 6000k Philips bulbs from Germany. Only they are 200.00 a set. I think they will work alot better.
Black All weather Mats..a must if you live on the beach!
All 3 Navi Hacks per the thread on Acurazine!

I also have a 1990 300zx TT. That is my go fast car. I bought the TL to be my Navi replacement. So I will visually mod the Acura but I belive without the Comptech Supercharger that it's pointless to make it "FAST" even then my TT would stomp it!

Here is a stock picture of the TL before the taillights and sidemarkers. I'll take a new one today! Enjoy.

And it's great to be a part of your Acura community. I will try and help with anything I can help out on. Check out my DVD button post.

Happy modding. You should take your baby to the tint shop and have your rear 1/4 panes redone. I can't stand that tint shops can't seem to get this done right

I noticed that it looked odd..I have a tint guy I was going to use but I found the car already tinted. I'll call him today and see what he says. Thanks

i love the color

Yeah I never thought I would like the color ..I'm usually a white car guy but it reminded me of the Vette that is parked down the road from my office. I didn't care for the Vette, but I loved the dark red color. The pearl in the paint makes it look unique.

Almost bought one this color a while when I was just shopping and it sold on me. Couldn't find another clean car so I just got a new one. Nice mods so far.

I just got 19" Momo wheels on my TL back in Feb 2008, never thought I would get aftermarket wheels since I bought the car new in 2005 and I really liked the stock wheels but my cousin got aftermarket wheels on his car and since I went with him the guy there said he would give us a heck of a deal if we "both" got wheels. I know he was full of it but I got the wheels anyway cause I thought it made the car look better.

Quick question...What's wrong with the OEM xenon headlights, I know you mentioned something about changing the bulbs? Just wondering.

welcome glad ur going out on visual mods right away adds appeal to the car right away.....i would say be careful with messing around with the HIDs some ballasts like it most dont but if u go with philips ultinon bulbs or GE bulbs or osram u'll be ok. the after market ones go bad pretty fast or they blow ur ballast (speaking from personal experience) either way enjoy!!!

Yeah I bought a set of cheap ones..8000k..blue'r ...then i just ordered last night a set of the Authentic Philips Ultinon 6000K D2S Bulbs. They were pricey at $100.00 per bulb but I bet the will look great!

I wanted the light output to be "whiter" so I got 8000k crappy bulbs now but ordered last night a set of Authentic Philips Ultinon 6000K D2S Bulbs . I'll let you know how it looks!

I just can't see anything at night with the 8000k bulbs..not enought light output.

Welcome, that's a very unique color. I've yet to see one in person as well. Hope you have nothing but good luck with it!

I have a 04 Taco that I'll unload soon for a 08 TL. For some of the same reasons as you. Although not a gas hog, it does eat up gas and is losing value the higher gas prices go. It just doesn't afford to own a truck or SUV these days. It's really sad what my truck is worth today. It's in great shape and worth less then $12K I'm sure.

Some usually love saying, "let the modding begin!" But, not here. Looks like you started the modding before you even got it. Looks good.

Yeah, anything over 6000K just isn't worthwhile. 5000K is the best in terms of light output, but hard to find.

I'll trade you a 300zx Twin Turbo for that truck! Lol. The Z just sits and needs a good home. Insurance is double what the TL is.

the higher the kelvin the less white u have iz..... white is 4100k. anything above 6000k the light output is down by a lot... the lumens on 4100k or 4300k is 3200 the lumens on 6000k is 3000 anything above that drops to about 2600 lumens..... ive come to find out that ballasts have a lumen monitor in them as well.....so if ur +-300 lumens ur within a good state for the bulbs working for a long time......anything more or less takes life from the ballast and bulbs.
