jerking 6 speed
does anyone's 6 sp MT jerk when shifting and going over bumps? it feels like when I'm driving in LA, I have to shift then immediately put my second hand on the steering wheel to control the steering wheel...and when I take off from a full stop, the steering wheel also pulls before i drive...is this normal?

You mean you shift while going over bumps?
it feels like when I'm driving in LA,
So this only happens in L.A.?
I have to shift then immediately put my second hand on the steering wheel to control the steering wheel
And it can't be controlled by one hand....
...and when I take off from a full stop, the steering wheel also pulls before i drive
Sorry, I just couldn't get that one
...is this normal?
Hmmmm....Probably not.

Sound like the driveline lash. Its the collective tollerances between gears and combined with flexible motor mounts has everything moving around from poor shifting technique.
It should be better in higher gears as there is less of a torque multiplier.
Thants my guess.

i think it might be torque steer...but it also feels as if...I can feel EVERY SINGLE LITTLE BUMP ON THE ROAD. My steering wheel shakes and vibrates whenever it goes over uneven pavement and also when i'm on the freeway going over 75mph.
also, what exactly does drive by wire mean? does that mean that the steering column is not directly connected to the tires or something..? because if it is, wouldn't there be a way to dampen the shaking and vibrations from my steering wheel. When I drive a 530i, i don't feel this crap...and even when I was in my 96 accord, it wasn't this bad, come to think of it, even when driving the 2003 TL, they were all relatively smooth unless it was a big pot hole.

Gratis dictum
Drive by wire has nothing to do with the steering column. It relates to the gas pedal and throttle body. Maybe you better check your front tire pressures. Other than that, take it to the dealer.
