I've made up my mind... well almost

First off, I want to thank everyone that has replied to my posts.

I am glad to say that I have finally decided to get the tl (over g35, pontiac gto, and cadi cts-v).

I have decided on everything (anthrocite/ebony, mt, navi) but I am having a problem with two things.

1) SHould I get an 04 at invoice or wait for the 05?

2) Should I get the A-spec package?

Any and all feedback would be greatly apprecated.

Again, thanks to all who have helped me so far.

Also, just wanted to know.. is there onstar on either the 04/05 tl?

What about real time traffic navi? Is that gonna be on 05tl?

Since you have posted this one, http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90713 , you probably will get answers there already.

1) If money is a factor, get invoic 04TL Anthracite/Ebony, 6MT, Navi now. Or, wait a few months later to get 05TL, price may drop more.

2) Make sure your dealer offers the invoice 04TL and reasonable price with A-Spec kits and installation. When purchasing A-Spec additionally, some dealers will bite you hard.

Congratulations on your wise decision :-)

IMO, Pontiac makes the nastiest cars around . . . I would never consider one.

To me, A-spec is not mearly worth the moeny when you itemize what you get, and analyze the cost. vs. benefit. You could get a supercharger instead, or customized entertainment system. IF there were engine mods involved that might justify the price better.

As for the '04 vs the '05, you have to know the '04 is going to cost less. And if you are trading another car, you'll lose some there with the model year change. One the other hand, you'll have a fresh model year for nearly a full year for bragging rights.

I agree. I don't think that the A-Spec package is all that great for the money spent. Acura made a mistake offering it without some power mods as part of the package. Unless you're going to be bending the car into some serious curves, you really won't miss it.

As for your color and option combo, nice choice.. just like mine. I love the Anthracite/Ebony combo and would never have bought the car if a manual was not offered. The day I bought it, the dealer had more manuals with NAV on the lot than automatics.. interesting. I didn't want the NAV, but got it anyway. Now I'm happy I did. The car seems to be complete with it. And it is a heck of a desirable feature when the time comes to sell, (not something I think I'll be doing any time soon).

QUESTION: Have you test driven one yet?

LMAO.. thanx ted.. I see you read my previous posts

I have not driven the manual yet only auto. No one seems to have a manual to test drive. I loved the drive (even though a major step down from my current car). Only bad part was bad torque steer and bad stopping power. Can't do anything about the torque steer but I heard the manual comes with better brakes. Is that true?

The best price I am getting for the 04 manual w/ navi is $33000 which is too high for an 04 in my opinion.

I'm gonna try a new dealer tomorrow.

The only problem is no one seems to have any definate date as to when 05's will be released. I can wait to end of sept.. but that is about it.

Thanks for anyone's imput. I have dumped the idea of the a spec. Only thing now is to go 04 or 05 (any accessories anyone has that they really recommend) They all seem really over priced though.

Congrats on your choice.

On the decision on what year to buy, consider this. I don't like buying "next years" model this early in the year because I drive a lot of miles. I keep a car 18 - 24 months. If I where to buy an 05 right now, for instance, in spring of 2006 I would have a one model year old car with 30K miles on it. For that reason, if I could buy a 2004 for a thousand or two less than a 2005, I will probably be better off.

I think the opposite. It is always better to get the next year model. All the supposed savings in the 04 model will vanish in resale value, even on a 6-8 years term unless you rake a lot of miles. And you can get discount on a 05 too. In Nov 98, I got a 1850$ discount on a 29350$ 1999 car.

Agree 05 has better value in the future.

Question. Was that '99 car the 2nd year model, too? Was that '99 car having the tremendous sale in '98, too? Just curious. Thanks.
