Intro to the Forum
Hello all,
I've been lurking for a little while and finally joined. There seems to be a lot of good info with a friendly atmosphere here. I look forward to continued info gathering and hopefully contributing as well. I'm a big DIY guy. I came from a 11 Mustang GT premium with an intake, full ex, tune, 1.5" drop and staggered 20' wheel/tire package but after getting engaged and soon to start a family I'm back to Acura and my 2nd TL-S. Prior to the 5.0 I had a fully bolted BT Mazdaspeed6. Needless to say I like my sporty cars. I'm loving the TL so far and I'm very happy I found one in kinetic blue with a M6 that was well taken care of. I look forward to participating some on here and sharing knowledge and stories. BTW I just ordered my J pipe and AEM V2 from XLR8  https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...4ee56d2ca8.jpg |
Welcome to AcuraZine!
You have a unicorn.... KBP and 6MT. Enjoy it. How many miles? |
Wow really nice find!! Congrats and welcome aboard -

Thanks guys. It had 90k when I got it and was in better shape than any other I had looked at, unicorn indeed. I hadn't even sold the Mustang yet when I found it, still bought it 2 days after I saw it on auto trader.

Sounds good. Just bear in mind you have the 105K service coming up in roughly a year. This is the first major service for the TL. You say you are a big DIY'er, so not sure if you want to tackle this on your own or not. Otherwise it's approx $1K to do the timing belt, water pump, belt tensioner, etc.... But again a ways off depending on how many miles you roll up annually. Also it is a subject of great debate in terms of the mileage. Some (many?) have gone way beyond the 105K and still others are right around the 105K mark.
Lots of discussion as well as DIY and recommendations here on AZ. |

I called my Acura dealer that I took my 03 TL-S to and asked some of those questions. They indicated similar to what you did, that it depends on how the car has been driven and the maintenience light would come on when it was time. I am a DIY guy but I rather enjoy performance oriented projects. I may let the dealer do the timing belt, thats a zero margin of error job and no fun.
