Insurance goes up - increased liability rating on TL

Got my insurance statement from State Farm and theres a notice that the claim experience (I've had no claims) on the make and model (a 2006 TL) has resulted in an increase to your liability rating group for bodily injury and/or property damage coverages.

One of the factors that went into the purchase was also the safetly rating based on what I read at the time so I was surprised there's been this overall experience. Any other insurance companies re-rating the TL?

I got the same notice on mine...totally clean driving record, no claims...its frustrating...probably people that like to spin the tires in the rain with the VSA off and hit trees contributed to this...lol

Got my notice today and it didn't change at all. I totalled out an 03 A4 in June (comp claim) and my insurance went down $40/year with the 04' TL. I did request a copy of my insurance score (like a credit score, not really sure). I want to know what the heck they are looking at.

my insurance actually went up ALOT from my 06 TL to 08 TL-S, partially because of value (new $39k car over used car worth $29k), and the bigger engine.

i had progressive
paid $1600 a year for 06 TL / $1800 for the 08 TL-S

My wife and I have State Farm, and the rates on my '07 TL-S have gone DOWN this year. We giggle (actually I do) when the rates for her '01 Celica are more than my TL-S. No claims, and been with them for decades. $840/yr. for both.

korrupted, exactly like you said, Crooklyn, due all of those bs with no fault-insurance law suits a few years back, we are paying for it now.

Brooklyn has the highest auto insurance rates in the nation. bastards! I pay $2400yr 100/300, (08TLS) ( I use to pay $3600 when I owned 00TL, I started leasing it became cheaper, weird) My 06 FX35 ran me $2600, so $200 bux savings with 08 TLS.

I keep calling Geico every two months, saying that I'm getting a better rate from a difference company, they immediately lower my rate, so call them! It's worth a try.

Korrupted, lol

Geico is not honest with us, so why be honest with them They are screwing us, return the favor and lie

Man, people in Staten Island pay 50% less than what we do, this is totally unfair. There is a reason we see so many Florida plates in Brooklyn.

My semi-annual premium went up slightly, but I just figured it had to do with my ticket (even though by law the ticket should have no affect). The increase wouldn't even be $100 a year.

What amazes me is what some of you pay, even with clean records. Our state laws and insurance commission heavily favor the insurance companies (and they take full advantage of it), but my rates aren't even close to some of these posted.

Insurance goes up

I see what some of you are paying and I am glad I live in SC. ...And, I thought insurance was high here because of the deer and drunks.

Just so we know we are talking apples to apples:
2006 TL - 250,000/500,000/50,000 with full comp and collision with 500 deduct costs me $416/year with State Farm.

Ironically, our 1998 Integra costs $385/year for the same coverage. They must figure that a red coupe with manual must be driven by a teenager. My wife says it keeps her young.

RANGER: Are you sure that $416 isn't for 6 months?

KORRUPTED I've found that honesty doesn't get you far when dealing with Insurance companies...unfortunately. I called Geico just one time, and the first question out of their mouth was "do you own a radar detector". Of course I answered truthfully, and said "yes". It was a real short phone call !

07 TL-S

I pay about $1,100 per year for full coverage with State Farm. They lowered my rate slightly PLUS they sent me a $100 dividend check. I was pleasantly surprised.

Mine went up, but I moved about 20 miles and it put me into a new county. Went from $1100/year to $1500/year. I told them just because i drive in a different county doesnt make me a worse driver. They said the area is more congested blah blah blah. And my driving habits are going to change? Go figure....

I see your referencing the guy from SC but mine from NC is $201 for each 6 months or $402 for the full year. That's for 100/300 full coverage and 100K in uninsured motorist. I can't believe ANYONE would pay over a grand a year JUST for insurance coverage (much less the $3,500 one guy posted !.

Which state one is in & even which city/county one resides will make a big difference as to how much one will pay ... with the same insurance company & comp. level of coverage, the cost will be totally different. Plus when you factor in driving record & all that ... the cost pile up ...

ps. i'm too depressed to put my numbers in here ...

That's the price for living in the "Big City".
Imagine paying $1,000,000 for a 1 bedroom apt.

Insurance

Ranger here with a followup -

$416/year is the rate I pay for the 2006 Tl. To be fair; my wife and I are retired and have been lucky to have clean driving records with no claims for more than 10 years. As noted, we also have an Integra and a 2000 Ranger pickup so we get multiple car discounts.

We lived on Long Island many years ago where I worked in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The big difference between there and here is the low population density. Life (driving) is so much easier when you have room to move.

That's because you have a tow bar sticking out your front bumper! They automatically anticipate you gonna wreck it dawg!

Erie $1233 a year for 3 cars (all full coverage):

I am actually happy with what I pay, when I first moved to vegas I heard horror stories on insurance prices. Most people usually told me to take whatever I was paying for in the city I was living in prior to Vegas, and multiply that number by 3 and that will give you an idea of what your auto insurance will be. Insurance hates Vegas, you get bad drivers from california, drunk drivers from drinking 24/7, and number one city for stolen cars.

To thread starter: it depends on how much the increase is. $Negligible/yr = no big deal. Otherwise, it's a signal to shop around.

$1865/yr.
$300k/300k $250 Ded.

To the thread starter, and everyone else, you may not have to pay that increase.

Depending on where you live you can appeal the increase to the state agency that regulates insurance companies. This requiers some reading, and once you find the state regulations that dictate how/when/why a company may raise your rate you could save some $$$.

Go to your states website, it will take some patience, this wont be an over night thing.
