Importance of VSA(off) : toyota hylander helped

What a beautiful long weekend in Canada. I was going groceries to pick up onions and cereals.

Traffic is light on 3-lane road and there are 3 cars in front of me with red light coming. Next thing, toyota makes lane change and take my first spot. (H=hylander,T=TL) Being a 3rd year college student driving TL, I only have an idea in mind.

Light goes green and hylander is trying to go fast. Of course this thing isn't meant to be anywhere near sporty. So I was easily able to make lane change and stick my nose out.

Once I got my nose out in front of pack, I ease on gas and take cruise because there are many lights to go. At next light, toyota lines up with me. Since I've seen his aggressive launch at previous light, I turn my VSA off just in case. He's got a bit of advantage by sticking nose out but that's ok. I'm not trying to make official race with hylander.

#1 (VSA off, late start)
I'm still not sure if he's gonna do anything or not. So I had to listen to his launch. After second or two into green light, I can hear he is pushing so I react to his action. My tire screeches for an instance(left first then right) and gets grip. I'm sticking nose out by end of 1st.

#2 (VSA off, proper start)
I meet him again at next set of lights. He makes lane change to beat other cars to get first spot so I know he wants another chance. Light goes green and I'm ready for this, He never had chance not even in low-end.

#3 (VSA ON, late start)
I see him again at next set of lights. I figured there's no way he would go again so I turn my VSA back on and put gear in D. I was wrong! He floored again and I had to catch up by flooring mine. I can feel VSA working because my tires aren't making any noise and throttle is really soft. It took me full 1st gear to stick my nose out.

#4(VSA off, rolling start)
Clearly he hasn't given up yet so I turned VSA off and slowly appraoched red light. Before I came to stop, light went green so I punched on gas. My whole car shook to the left and he probably saw it too.

This is what I felt with VSA on and off

VSA is annoying. i was dog fighting a current M3 last night. i forgot to turn my VSA off from a roll. soon as i shifted into 2nd the VSA kicked in and dragged the car down a bit. luckily i was in front 2 car length so M3 didn't catch up. he never gained any noticible distance when i shut it down at the end of the 3rd ( i thought i pulled him a little on 3rd but couldn't tell for sure). i suspected he probably hit his stability control too. ha. remember to tunn it off when playing..
