I'm Thinking Of Getting A Acura 2005 Tl,any Major Problems With Them?

hi there and good day! well, i just wanted to say that, i haven't decieded yet if i want to buy this vehicle yet, but i thought i would get some answer from people who might own one themselves and hear what they have to say! first of all, its a beautiful car, and like any other vehicle, there i'm sure might be little things here and there. i just want to make sure that there isn't something big that has happened to this vehicle for some people, like a continuous problem with them. also, about the winter time, cause i know some cars do require winter rims& tires, would this vehicle need 2 sets of tires & rims for summer and winter or just all year round? thanx for any info. out there that might be of help and cheers..

Welcome to the forums. As a start- you can look in the 3G Garage for alot of useful info:https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84834.

I have an 05. Only things worth mentioning is that my battery went dead w/ in the first 12 months of ownership buit the dealer replaced it under warranty. There was a TSB for a bad batch of batteries in the 05 so that worked out great. I also had my driver's leather seat cover replaced because it had some discoloration. Dealer replaced it under warranty. No other problems.

Good luck w/ your hunt.

do a search for "Acura 2005" I'm sure you will find a ton of info on the forum...you'll probably get all kinds of crap!

You'll probably get as much information as typing "and" or "the" in google.com and hitting search LOL

welcome!

I don't think 2 sets of wheels/tires (winter and summer) are necessary if you have stock ones now, but of course, it also depends on where you live.

In over 35,000 miles my 2005 has only been to the dealer once for a minor warranty repair of the temperature gauge. Can't tell you about two sets of tires but doubt that you really need them unless yours comes with the summer tires.

On MTs, folks have had problems with 3rd gear engaging and clutches failing prematurely.

No need to stay away from 04's. Mine has been trouble free since the day I brought it home, except for a couple rattles that have been addressed.

46K miles on my 05 and nothing major happened that prevented me from enjoying the car. The few issues below, I believe, are common for 05's (some for all TL's) and were all resolved by the dealer.

Here are the minor issues covered under warranty:

Battery died - replaced
LED Side marker blew out - replaced
Uneven tire wear w/ A-Spec suspention - bump stop installed, tires replaced
Subwoofer rattle - padded
Door rattles - padded
Moonroof grind - greased
Passenger side mirror sticking w/ auto down (in reverse) - replaced

There's probably a few more, but again, nothing really major. I'd say its a safe bet getting this ride. Just have it inspected by a trusted mechanic and you'll be on your way!

It's really quite mis-leading, all the posts saying "stay away from 04's" "watch out for 04's" bla bla bla. 04's are just fine.
