Im depressed!!!
so i saw this car on wensday on a local website that has cars for sale.. i see a black on black TL 05 that i fell in love with.. I sent him an email, and while i was at the driving range hitting some golf balls at night, he calls me up and tells me to come in the next day evening to take a look at the car.
Here I am all happy I get to go see a car that ive been looking for, for over 2 weeks now. So i get there and hes like OH hey MR. S, um we dont have the car, its at the body shop getting the bumper painted it had a scratch. no biggie, so i gave him 200$ and said dont sell the car until i see it. I also ask him if the price is nego, and he says NO
next day, i call up CAA (the american version of AAA), and one of the benifits of being a member, you get the market value on any car. So i called and asked what he market value of an 05 TL is with navi, 5speed auto, under 50 000km. he tells me 29 300$. at that point i had the BIGGEST smile on my face, thinking im gonna nogotiate the fukc out him.
I get there on monday, test drive the car ( i LOVE it), and for some reason it was squeeking(sp?) after every bump. we get out, i said id offer 30g's cause i know what the value is of the car, he says no, then 2 min later he tells me to have a seat at his desk. he comes back and says 32 900. now heres the thing. my budget is 35k after taxes. In my beautifull province of quebec, we have to pay 2 taxes at the stealership. 1 tax of 6.5 and one of 7%. if you havent noticed, thats just under 4500$ in taxes.. i told him if it wasnt for the taxes i would be happy to take the car right away.
i offerd 31 500, he said no, i said peace and went home..
i really need a new car quick lol, its a huge piss off and i hope i find a private seller really quickk
sorry for the long rant

oh wow..I was gonna say $30k USD for an 05 TL? NUTS!! haha but yeah now I understand haha Canadian Dollars. So what's up withe the suspension? IDK if you'd want to buy a used car with suspension problems and then have to deal with it later? 1k usd=struts and springs probably
#3
Don't worry about it ProblemChild, if you take your time to look for it I'm sure you can find one thats worth waiting for. I don't know about Canada, but in the U.S. you can get a brand new TL for your budget and then some. Hey good luck on your search.

Find a different car. That guy was an ass.

I would call and ask to speak to the gm of the dealer. He doesn't want to go lower bc he thinks he can sell it for more and have a higher comission. I buy a new car every 2-3 years so I pretty much know how the game works. Give the gm or sales manager a call and ask them if they will reconsider your deal. That is of course if it's really the car you want and you willing to take it with the possible suspension problem

Isn't Quebec and Toronto close to New York? Can't you buy from upstate NY to save a little on taxes?? Or is there a restriction because it's another country and import laws might apply? Isn't it like Americans crossing into Canada and buying cheaper prescription drugs? LOL

1st Class Action lawsuit against Car Manufacturers
North American automakers slapped with $2B class action suit by new vehicle owners

TORONTO - North American auto manufacturers have been slapped with a $2-billion class action lawsuit by four Toronto residents who claim the auto industry conspired to inflate the price of automobiles in Canada and also inhibited cross-border vehicle shopping on the strong Canadian dollar.
The suit, filed with the Ontario Superior Court by Toronto-based law firm Juroviesky and Ricci, covers consumers who bought cars between August 2005 and August 2007.
They say they forked out more money to buy cars in Canada than similar or identical models cost in the United States.
Named in the lawsuit are the Canadian and U.S. divisions of General Motors (NYSE: GM), Honda, Nissan and Chrysler.
The plaintiffs called the plan between automakers a "conspiracy" that involved a "series of concerted actions, agreements and directives" between the companies designed to minimize cross-border competition and the number of new cars that crossed the border.
Included in the allegations are claims that the automakers agreed not to honour warranties for vehicles purchased across the border, forcing Canadian consumers who wanted a manufacturer's warranty to pay 25 to 35 per cent more on average for a vehicle in Canada.
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
Also named in the suit are the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) and the National Automobile Dealers Association, a U.S. partner based in Virginia.
CADA spokesman Huw Williams said Wednesday afternoon that the association had yet to receive a copy of the class action lawsuit.
"We're obviously not prepared to either comment on it or anything revolving it," Williams said from Ottawa.
The suit also claims some auto sales contracts included "no-export clauses" that prevented buyers from taking their cars from the U.S. to Canada, or vice-versa.
Another allegation says the industry penalized dealers if the cars they sold were then exported, either threatening to delay shipment of certain models or by issuing "chargebacks."
