I was distracted by my phone ringing and I accidently turned the ignition off while still in "D" in a parking spot. I realized my error and shifted to park, then turned the car on, pulled forward a bit, and then shifted to park again and turned the car off.

Would this result in any damage? The key would not come out of the ignition, due to still being in gear.

 

Nope. Don't worry about that. Nothing harm happened to your engine.

 

Everything is fine....it's a safety system that didn't allow you to pull the key while in gear...I believe you can only pull the key out in P.

it's ok, these things happens... you should really bluetooth your phone to the car by now.

Now...it's not like you left your car running, it began to rain like crazy, and you left the keys in the car, and your Clifford Matrix alarm decided to arm itself.....now....I felt like a huge idiot...standing outside in rain..watching my car running, wipers going, music blasting...lol.

 

It is blue toothed already Just distracted me cuz I was talking to my passengers and then the phone rang, so I hung up on whoever it was, haha.

 

My husband does this all the time when he drives my TL. He's too used to his manual.
