I thought they just twist out and you replace them... twist counter clock-wise, pull bulb out(careful not to touch the lens) then replace with the new bulbs(again, careful not to touch the lens/glass) Good luck.

Oh-k, search the 3G threads, there is a great DIY for changing HID Bulbs.
All you need is to change your stock hid bulbs for 8000K or 10000K D2S or D2C bulbs.
But I recommend that you read up on the differences in kelvins, as higher the temp., the lower the lumen output.. I wouldn't put anything above 6000K.
Good Luck.

changing the HIDs in the headlights can be a real pain... 'cause of the security torx screw holding the cover in place at the HID location...
You either have to remove the headlights completely and do it....
or try doing it the way "DCC" described in one of his threads by going thru the wheel wells....
or break off the tab at the securty screw location from the top of the engine bay, then twist off the cover and install the new bulbs...

rodney..yep..the process is def. a bitch...since you are working blind when working thru the wheel wells....very easy to break the bulb.
I think the OP concern is mostly with burning up the original wiring if he uses 8,000K/10,000K bulbs, as I know, we do have members on Acurazine who are running such set-up without a problem...
It's looking good vs seeing well, I rather see where I'm going

Umm.. you're running HID reverse lights? How does that work? I guess I've never checked to see what bulb is back there, but I wouldn't have expected it to be a headlight-style bulb. Not to mention you would have had to get an HID conversion kit?
If so - interesting.

Bulbs....sooooooo many choices.....
I have tried all the recommended ones, including Philips/GE and Kaixen....(yes I spent a lot of money on the bulb upgrade, I drive a lot on dark roads almost everyday, and after starring at a monitor for 8 hours my eyes do get fatigued, so seeing easier at night was my primary concern, and I did want the 6000K bluish look as I like how much crispier the signs appear...even though I'm only fooling myself, 4300K stock do provide optimum lumens...you can also change the lens, but my car is a lease and it's not worth it)
I'm currently running Xetronic 6000k D2C bulbs, they are the best out of them all in terms of whiteness and lumen output....Plus they have great warranty...When I was installing my bulbs, I cracked one by accident, it was replaced with zero hassle. But they do cost just as much Phillips though, this is one part that I didn't like.

Don't know about you guys but my stock HIDs don't seem as bright as other cars have... then again I haven't driven in them to really find out--and haven't looked into my lights.
I'm thinking of 6,000k myself--but does the blue-tones show through noticeably? I like the color blue.... =]
Also thinking of trying to convert my inner lights to fogs as you USDM folks have on the o4s/o5s... and putting Nokya Hyper Yellows[was that the name?] or some yellow HIDs [whatever number K it was again].

Rod, just saw your pics. Holy crap man.. do those reverse blind people?
That reminds me of the RX7 I saw with 4 PIAA fog lamps mounted under the rear bumper--my friend and I unfortunetely got 'attacked' when he decided to follow to closely.
