They had the list priced screwed up. I was a very large split dealership Acura/Honda. They had it listed on their computer as a Honda Accord for some reason, I found it after looking on auto trader at about 1 am sent the email and at 9 am I got a call from their head salesman. He told me that they made a mistake but since I had emailed him in with the list price and description of the vehicle that he would honor the price. I had to wait until the wifey got off work to go sign and get it (about an hour away). When we got there I had about 10 different guys come by and inform me that Jarred or Jimmy screwed this up and was in some trouble. All know is that they had it marked the same price as the 2008 Accord 4 cyl next to it. So long story short I got lucky and snagged it asap. The list price was $20,750 and I just paid cash for the tax and extras.

this is what the dealership said
"We own the Acura for more than $22,000.00. I will not ever be able to sell it for $23,000 o.t.d. I understand you are serious about buying. When you can make a serious offer, we definitely want to earn your business. That is why we have worked so hard for you. Unfortunately, the number you want is unrealistic to what we can do.
Thank you for your time."
they say 24,000 OTD is the final price

its really up to you.
If you feel that its a fair price, then snag the car.
you cant ask the internet, because each and everyone of us had a different buying experience.
we can give you guidelines, but ultimately the buying decision is yours.
so now the question is, do you feel that 24k OTD is fair to YOU based off the condition and mileage of the car?
if its not fair, keep looking.
if you think its an awesome deal then go ahead and pick it up already.
Geez, do you ask for buying advice when shopping for toilet paper?

this is what i got in my email
"Ok brother,
I have asked everyone I can ask. The lowest out the door price I can get is $24,500.00. I was told $24,300.00 last week, so I feel like I can make that happen for you with a little begging on my part, but that would be the lowest I can go.
We simply own that vehicle for too much to go lower. If you decide to go that route, please let me know and I will do all I can to make the process very easy and quick for you. If you have to go another route, I understand.
Sincerely,
Robert Killian"

No, I think you are better off staying away from the dealership. The internet and email give you an advantage since you can think about the deal
And play hardball without the presure of the show room.
I bought my car over the Internet, only going to the dealer to pay them and pick up the car. I emailed all dealers within 70 miles and asked for a my combo. The few that responded, I emailed back that I didn't want to test drive or even see the car. I would come within two days of them getting the car and pay for it and leave. They called me and asked for a deposit, I asked them if they had the car because all the dealers would have to find it at another dealer anyway and make the trade. They would say not yet and we want the depo first but because most of our back and forth was over email so I could be very to the point and direct without having to do it in person. Even if they make $500 -$1000 in commission it's for a few hours work.

I have been working for you all morning and a few moments ago, our owner who is on vacation, called and said he will take $23,400 DRIVE OUT. I am very excited about that because that was one of your offers. Can you make it up here today to finalize our deal? I can have the vehicle cleaned and all the necessary paper work on my end ready to eliminate the waiting process. Please notify me on what our next step will be. Thanks again. "
that was what he wrote in a email back. 23,400 out the door a good deal?

Just buy the car already.
We do not have access to your financial situation. We don't know if its a good deal.
ONLY YOU have that right to determine if its a great deal or not.
can you afford 23400? Are you financing through a CU? or them? whats your APR? What are your monthly payments looking like? Insurance?
All these factors combined contribute on how good of a deal you got.
IF you can swing 23400 then pick up the car already. Obviously, if you can only get 20K in a loan, and your APR is TERRIBLY HIGH, and your insurance rate is out the roof, then it obviously wouldn't be a good deal.
I'll say it again, BE CONFIDENT IN YOUR PURCHASE. only YOU know if you got a great deal or not.
Personally, I think I got fair to decent deal on my car. I purchased my car for $23k otd. put down $5k. which leaves me to finance $18.5k with 4.25% APR for 5 years or 60 months.
my payments are $350 a month, with insurance at $150 a month.

Every one's buying experience is different. you will never get two cars priced the same, because of regions, mileage, body conditions, etc.
the list goes on. Just too many variables.
If you have this mindset after you purchase the vehicle, you're going to be kicking yourself over and over when you see a similar car sell for a lower price.
Also, that statement you made, financial situation doesnt matter.... it seems like it does matter to you. it seems like you cant afford that $23,400. If you can't do it, then search for another car. cars will come and go. there will always be a better deal.
