WELL..... I did it...... I gave up my 04 TL......

I DO NOT WANT TO DO IT, but I have to do it because of financial situations. But, I still stayed in the Acura family, got a good deal on a used 2001 Integra with low mileage.

Well, that's it. I'm just hoping that when some relief comes around quickly and pretty big, that I'll be able to get one again.

I'll end with this.... IT IS THE BEST CAR I'VE EVER OWNED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

Another option is the Honda Accord. You can get a good deal on a new Accord if you haggle enough. I could have gotten any auto Accord for $100 over invoice. The new Accords are very nice and have Honda's reliability. Hope things work out to keep the TL though.

It sounds like that was a very tough choice to make. But it also sounds like you a mature enough person to know what is important right now in this stage of your life.
Can't go wrong with an Integra, I have 2 of them myself.

I've had seven Mazdas, and my experiences have been that their quality is as good as anyones elses. If you like the "3", don't hesitate based upon quality. You bought a TL despite all the transmission problems with the previous TL, right?

Another option would be a VW Jetta. They don't have quite the gadgets, but it's a quality car, and the 1.8 turbo can be tweaked. I'm guessing there are good deals on them as well.

I second this. extend your loan way out if possible to give yourself some breathing room. The extra intrest can't be more then the loss on your trade-in and then the loss on the mazda as you drive it off the lot.
BTW it's very possible to get 30+mpg on the highway if you really want to.

I was going to suggest the same thing (02TLS), that is what I had. But I do have to say that mileage was never good for me on that car. I averaged 220 miles per fillup. So if gas cost is an issue go with the 3. Take care and good luck.

I had a similar situation when I first got my 02TLS. But I decided to eat cupanuddles for breakfast lunch and dinner until things got better. It was tough man. I lived in NYC and couldn't even go out on the weekends, no money for clothes, etc.. It wasn't just the car costs, other things hit me at once. Again, good luck man. Shit happens and we deal with it.

Bad idea to get rid of the TL. On a car of lower cost the equity (assuming you didn't put 10,000 down, otherwise you would have a loan of 22k anyway) will not be asorbed unless you have a large down payment. Your TL is only worth at the most 28k on the retail market, 25k on trade. You are kind of stuck in any situition. You will need large down to eat up negitive equity, which would make up for the TL, so you might as well keep the TL. Try re-financing for a lower interest rate and get a 72 month term to afford the payments.

I woulda bought the 1.7EL. It's only nominally more expensive than the Civic SI-G. But too late now.

Excuse me if this sounds harsh but....

Why the @#%* did you buy a car you can't afford?

Hint: The only correct answer is "Because I'm stupid".

ulangca: sorry to hear that you're not in a position to keep the car. It's better to get a less expensive car and keep it than to keep an expensive car and get it Reposessed.

I just got this note from a dealer here in Philly

We just received in trade, a 2004 Acura TL in Black. This car has a tan interior and an automatic transmission. NO NAVI. The car has 1420 miles and was traded in on a white 2004 TL. The car was a gift and the previous owner did not want black. This TL has the balance of the factory warranty. Please call or respond to this email if you are interested.

$28995 plus tax and tags.

If you trade it in, you'll prolly get $1k- $2k less than what they're quoting on the email.

Good luck in your search. Just think of it this way, if you trade in for a lesser car now, you'll be saving up for the next generation TL when you can really afford it.

Good things come to those that wait.

Why did you ask that question?

Hint: The only correct answer is "Because I'm a very stupid asshole with the IQ of a ball point pen."
