Lightbulb I have gunmetal Acura emblems

I always wanted to get gunmetal emblems for my TL, so I finally made them. Check out the pics on my yahoo pictures page. If anyone can host the pics, that would be great.

Those do look good, VTEC. I saw some gunmetal badges on a new Land or Range Rover the other day. Striking.

Hey, is that picture of your car's ass with the newly repainted bumpers? What do you think? Me? I'm still up in the air on mine, which probably means I don't like them. "Never underestimate the power of denial."

How much did the Comptech Springs lower your TL? and what was the overall cost? I am debated if I should get the performance suspension option from the dealer which drops the car 0.65" or if I should do it myself after getting the car.

Cheers,

Adam

They actually shine quiet a bit (may be hard to tell in the pic)...since it is paint with a metal flake as opposed to a true dark chrome, they will never have the sheen of the dark OEM Lexus type badging.

They lower it about 1"....springs cost about $200 U.S. and about $150 U.S for install. Very happy with them

Thanks for the complement on the badges...as for the bumpers, they are potentially worse than before. The rear is now pure white (no pearl to be seen), while the front has way too much pearl and appears to be yellow. Not quite sure what I am going to do from here. I can't believe my 2 tone car is now 3 tones.

Looks good, VTEC.....those gunmetal emblems really set off that WDP color.

What's up with your three-tone car?? You always have to go "one up" on the rest of us, huh?

I may have missed it but which CAI are you using? I like the removed plastic, it looks great! Oh yeah, the new badges look good to!

Using Injen CAI...happy with it. I removed the plastic, then put it back on, and then off again. Can't quite decide what I like.

Looks very smooth and shiny in person...most who have seen them think that they are OEM. If black chrome emblems were an option, they would look good on dark cars, but the metal flake in these look good in white.

Thumbs up Nice job!

Looks good VTECH. I wonder how that would look on Anthracite. Maybe I should give it a try. What type of paint did you use?

I think it would look great on a darker car. Another reason that I think your car would do well with the gunmetal emblems is because they would go well with the wheels.

Good point. So what kind of paint did you use? I wonder if the paint can be removed later without ruining the finish on the badges? I assume you removed the badges, painted, then stuck the badges back on using two sided tape. How difficult was it?

I know that you already got my PM, but for others...I used a specific wheel paint, and actually bought new badges from the dealer so that the adhesive is still intact. Anyone can PM me for details or let me know on this thread.

VTEC,

How did you remove the badges? Heat?

If you want to identify the paint, that would be great.

I did this same mod for my 2004 TSX, I used Duplicolor High Performance Wheel Coating from Advance Auto.

Why did you go gunmetal when the rest of the car's trim is aluminum? Why not just finish them in the same matte aluminum look to compliment the grille and licence plate lip?

Or just paint the grille and license plate lip gunmetal.

That would work too. I just don't get the cacophony of trim finishes on the car. From a distance, the stock chrome badges blend well with the stock aluminum trim. That chunky, thick gunmetal paint sticks out like a sore thumb. Is this the opposite of a debadge? Is this a rebadge? A mudbadge? I'm kung-fused.

Used a heat gun, but it warped the badges. I actually bought new emblems knowing that I would likely ruin the old ones. They are not very expensive.

As was mentioned by someone else, I used the Duplicolor Wheel paint in a gunmetal...its damn good stuff. Though the pics may not reflect it, I put on a couple of thick coats, and it came out glossy and smooth.
