I finally got this arrogant BMW guy back
So there’s a guy in my office who is a diehard BMW guy. He brags about his crappy little 3-series all the time, and he has the BMW logo twice in his cubicle. Not enough attention as a child – I dunno. Anyway, anytime someone gets a new car, he’s on top of them about how it’s an OK car but nothing compared to the “premium” BMW brand.
When I picked up my new ’08 w/ Navi at the end of last year, I didn’t feel the need to mention it to people. Well, guess who found out. I guess he saw me get out of it one day or something. Who knows. All I know is that he practically jumped into my cubicle one day, telling me that it was a decent buy for the money, and that maybe when I get older I can upgrade from Acura and afford the “real thing”. This was last December.
Fast forward to today at lunchtime. Our team is having a team lunch, so we all head out to the parking lot together. There are six of us, including Beemer guy, and both he and I had coincidentally volunteered to drive. As we’re walking, he finally manages to get me into a discussion/argument about which brand is better. At one point, we’re basically standing in the parking lot, and people are waiting for us to shut up and open our cars to let them in. He asks, “So I just don’t understand, what can that thing do that a Honda Accord can’t?” I stare at him and everyone stares at me. I turn around to my car and say “Windows down please”. My windows and sunroof slide open. (I had double clicked the unlock button in my pocket) Everyone just stares with their mouths open.
Six of us left to the restaurant, with five in one car, and one in the other.

Well done Nut...well done. Is he a yuppy? His underwear probably has the BMW logo sewn into it too.

HAHAHAHA!!! love the story, i dont think 4 people would've fit in the bmw anyways. 3 series are so small imo.
you should've told him he needs to grow up and buy a 5 series or even a 7. 3 series bmws(besides m3's) are the lowest of the bmw food chain. Which 3 series he has and please dont say a 328 or something even older 325.
TL>3 series

Nut, you should do what the old WWII bombers did. Paint a very small BMW logo with a red line through it on the nose of your car for everytime you make a BMW kill !!!

lol i guess so...
i dont really think the TL compares to most BMWs..seeing the quality in engineering that goes into them is amazing. and yes the 328/328 are "lower end" bmws..but still great cars and if i were to do it over agian i would def go bmw over acura anyday.
and to upandcoming..sorry for the truth lol

yea my friend has a JB3 135 and other friend has a JB3 335, they are dead even (only about 200lb diff between the cars i believe). they put over 360whp with just a chip. thats with stock intake and stock exhaust lol. great cars!

Um my 02 Maxima also did the window thing too, surprised some of the Beamers don't.
I would have told him to check the Bluebook value of his Beamer next to your TL and asked why anyone would do anything but lease a Beamer since they don't hold their value and nobody wants one once the warranty expires.
Seriously if its not a 330i or 335i, I'd laugh at him. He just bought a glorified Go-Kart.

Beemer dude pretty much just sat through lunch with an blank stare on his face. He definitely wasn't his normal boisterous self. I think he was pretty insulted that somebody actually sat in the middle of my backseat over getting shotgun in his just to check out my car. Playing a couple songs from Seal's DVD Audio release pretty much put them in awe.
An no, I'm not sure what kind of 3-series he has. I never really cared to look at his german engineered go-kart that closely. I'll look tomorrow.

I like the size of the current 3-series-- it's not that much smaller than the 3G TL. I drove both the manual and auto 335i a few months back, but they just don't seem appealing enough to me to trade in the TL.

Burning Brakes
Yes there is a turbo tuner for the 335 that increases boost and gives it a lot more hp. But if those cars were meant to run with the increased psi, BMW would've sold them that way. People who use those turbo tuners are shortening the life of their engines.

Remember to bring a very small can of paint though, cause everytime you pull into a gas station you are going to have to make some "adjustments" to your kills

The BMW guy
LMFAO!! Love the story. Altho I own a BMW I think it funny looking at the other side of things. Almost bought a TL. Though i love the car, my buddy has one. Fun car, and a lot of nice things to say about both cars.
my 2003 has that feature btw... u just push unlock 2 times and hold it the 2nd time.
The voice activation in the TL is pretty cool! Not very pratical more of a "wow" feature. Such as telling it to change the temperature... I think its about 1000x faster to just press the button 3 times then tell the car. hahaha
-- Im sorry but I had to comment on this... because this is just ignorance... LOL... Sorry man. I bought my 2003 330xi in Feb 07 for 18k. I get on KBB now, and I can get 17k for it.
-- My buddies 04' TL he bought 2 weeks after me... for 20k. His car is now worth about 16k.
Both cars started around the same price.
Also... the 3 series back seats are small! It is hard for a grown man to sit in the back. 5 series is a completely different feel of a car.. btw. 3 series are known at the track.
Oooh yeah... dont show the bimmer guy this:

if it is tuned properly, it wouldn't always shorten the life of the engine, turbos probably though. But thats also saying that if the TL was meant to have more power, acura would have put intake, diff jpipe and so on in it.
