Howdy from a new Type-S buyer
Hey all.
About to close the deal on a 6MT Type-S 2007 w/~78Kmi I've been lurking on the forum all day reading to find out what kind of interesting gotcha's I might have with a new (to me) model vehicle. A bit concerned about all the LCA bushing discussion, but that's the biggest one so far. My Honda-Acura heritage is: 1996 purchased new Honda Civic EX Coupe (great car) 2006 purchase new Honday Civic Si Coupe (loved this car favorite vehicle ever) 2012 traded Si in @ a CarMax & drove home an 06' 6MT Acura TSX* Showed up @ CM to test drive a MT Audi A4, but had been looking long & hard for months to find a TL Type-S MT with no luck. The TestDrive of the Audi was meh so so , but while walking through the back lot I saw a Black Acura TSX walked over, saw it was MT, said hmm this isn't on the website, can we drive it or is it not for sale. Sales person checked, said yup it's just new on the lot today, we can take it out, so I did. I thought on it about 36 hours thereafter but ended up making the deal, and the rest is history as they say, except that.... Maybe it's just that the TSX was the rebound car from a break up with my Si that I didn't really want, but I just never loved the TSX. It was/is nice, good, certainly an interior and luxury feature big time upgrade from the Si...but..I just never fell in love with it, and over the course of 2.5yrs of owning it, I've slowly fallen increasingly OUT of love with it. I should interject here for anyone wondering at this point as to why I traded a car I love love love for one I did not.....I had a 2nd kid on the way and the coupe wasn't going to cut it anymore, I needed a sedan, but wanted to retain MT driving & a more lively / sportier MT Sedan if possible, not a base model Accord for example or some such similar situation. The TSX *should* have fit the bill perfectly....but...it somehow fell short of my expectations in the end. So....at last I said, I don't like this TSX, my wife doesn't like it (& it isn't only because it's MT, she can drive MT & doesn't mind it occasionally, but it admittedly isn't for her as a daily commute experience, whereas for me, I do not treat my drive to & from the office as a commute, but rather a road race I shall win one draft, slip stream and pass at a time! ha ha) and began anew an earnest search for a Type-S TL. I only liked the 3G body style & wheels, so I confined my search for 06-08. I had 2 different 08 Type-S AT's in my sights & was planning to deal on one or the other negotiations dependent, when at long last I found a decent mileage '07 MT. It was out of state, but I could have it brought in for a cost that when combined with the asking price was on par with either of the 2 AT's I was targeting, and the mileage fell in between them, albeit 1 yr older. So that's my tale, I'm closing on Tuesday most likely, Wed at worst. The local dealer found a few minor not as described things in their inspection & detailing that they are addressing for me before hand, otherwise I would have taken deliver of it on Saturday evening. I'll continue to look around the forum for insights, but if anyone wants to make any newbie TL owner suggestions or point to highly relevant posts, I'd be most appreciative. Thanks, Rev |
Welcome and congrat post some pics.

Welcome!

Congrats! Lets see some pics!

Congrats on the purchase. Not sure what the lca bushing thing is your talking about. I have been on these forums for years and have owned six...yes six 3G TL's never heard of or experienced that issue. The 07/08 TL and Type S are very reliable and solid cars.

Well shoot I lost track of the thread I'd been reading about the bushing wearing on the Lower Control Arm, something about the rubber splitting even under very low mileage? I'll find it eventually, it was a HUGE thread though htf did I loose it? Lol
As for those asking for pics, I will gladly display some TL pr0n, once I take delivery. Somewhere between 36-60 hours from now. Rev |

just an FYI, the type S is 07-08, not 06-08

well keep in mind jts97z28 has had all very clean and low mileage TL's so its likely never had bushing issues. there are a lot of other people who beat on their cars so those bushings do wear out quick.
What does he do with them one is left to wonder? Rev |
It's a long story but I would have a TL, then either find one better and buy it, or buy an entirely different car and miss the TL and get back into another. I'm done with that now as I found the best one possible. I'm sticking with the current one and love it with no intentions of selling...even after over a year of ownership. I think your gonna love the TL! Enjoy!
