How soon did u wax your new TL?
I just purchased my TL a week ago and I was thinking about waxing it before I put the clear bra on it. How soon did u wax your new tl and what wax did u use?

Wax it immediatly ... clay bar the whole car first then use a sealant on it .. a wax is a wast of time .. Meguiars #21 sealant from thier professional line is a great one .. easy on .. easy off and gives a deep wet look and a great life.
You will have to redo the areas around where they clear bras as they will remove the sealant/wax.

You can wax your car immediately. The paint is ready to go from the time it gets on the lot.
I had a clear bra installed within the first two weeks. Do not waste your time waxing the front if you are going to have a clear bra installed. The surface needs to be free of any wax or sealant for the clearbra to properly bond to the surface. I would rather do this myself instead of the installer. Just clean and polish the front to remove any swirls or scratches. Let the clear bra cure for about a week before you wax the areas that were missed before.

I did my car the day after I got it home. Started using Zaino on this car instead of the carnuba wax I used on my older TL-S. I didn't expect to notice the difference between the Zaino and Pinnacle Sovereign wax, but I was blown away by the results. Try some Zaino...you'll be impressed. My car is Anthracite Metalic and after several coats of Zaino, the color actually looks darker and the shine so much better than it came from the factory that several people have asked me if I had the car professionally repainted...it looks that good. Hard to believe any product could change the look of the paint that much.

Gonna do it today. Well, around 75% of it. I'm not doing the front cuz I'm going to get a clear bra installed shortly, so don't want to waste the time.
So that is 38 days after purchase.....

It seems that we are all in agreement here... so I'll just add the same comment.
Generally, a new car has been sitting on a car lot or an outdoor storage compound for at least a month or more before you take delivery. Granted that it's covered in shipping wax, but the dealers don't spend a whole lot of money on hiring folks to prepare the vehicles. The kid you see on the lot, going from car to car with the hose and wash broom, is often the kid who prepared your brand new car...
So, as Jesstzn said, clay bar your car as soon as you get it home. This will remove the contaminates that have worked their way into your paint while it sat there (acid rain, coal dust, bird crap, etc). Then use an Acrylic Sealant rather than wax. Something like Klasse, or Zaino, or as Jesstzn said... Meguiars #21 (which is excellent). Caranuba wax will give you a nice glossy finish, but it will only last for 3 or 4 washes of the car, then you'll need to re-apply it. Acrylic sealant will give you a similar finish, but will last much longer (up to 6 months - depending on how often you wash your car).
Enjoy the new car... and go invest in a clay bar kit and some acrylic sealant (I'd recommend Meguiar's #21). While you're at it, have a look at a Porter-Cable D/A polisher. It's the best tool you'll ever buy for your car... and you'll own it for life.

thanks fellas, I just washed the car yesterday and didn't apply any wax. I'll wash it today againg and clay bar it, I have Mother's clay bar kit. Sounds like zaino or Meguiars #21 are the best to use as an sealant.

Ok I went to the local auto stores and I didn't find neither of the suggested sealants. Are these special products you have to order. If so, where could I order them from. Thanks.

I'm quite fond of UPP right now. good stuff. Its got the protection and durability of an acryllic sealant glaze and the shine of a carnuba. My car stays cleaner longer too...its like the wax prevents dust from sticking or something...
