How much for ur Tints?
#6
I bet I paid one of the highest prices... tinting in MI is illegal for front windows, and there aren't too many nice, sunny days, so naturally, there aren't that many tint shops... and far less good tint shops.
I paid $400 for 35% all around, and 50% windshield. They used titanium film (lifetime warranty) and the place is top notch (they even said they'll simply redo the tints if I start getting scratches when I talked to them about installing the "mole skin").

the price of tint depends on your location, as you can see from the responses in this thread, they range from 180, all the way up to 400. What area do you live in?
I paid 280 for all 4 windows and the rear in MA.

Wow! And I thought the price I had paid for was high!
$349 for 35% ceramic tint all around from Solarworks in Roswell, GA. I, too, have a lifetime warranty on my tint and my installer did an incredible job.

Cost is also dependent on the type of film used. Ceramics i.e. HO and F1 Pinnacle will cost more than a metallic film (Llumar, Sungard, Madico, F1, etc.). Then you have your dyed films which almost every manufacturer has. I'm not sure about the cost of the 3MCS series film - several folks have opted for them rather than the your ceramics. My install was $200 for the rear drs and back window (F1 Pinnacle). They wouldn't do the fronts because of Cal State Law but I'm lookin for someone who will. Probably go a different % cause I got too many of them fixit citations over the years. Some may think it'll look wierd or won't look good, but the choices are limited.

About $225 for Formula 1 Pinnacle ceramic tint- all windows but not windshield. See below for %.
Superb job by the best shop in South Florida: Tint King in West Palm Beach.
Of course, lifetime guarantee.
I did the moleskin myself before I took it in. The owner has a TL and was very familiar with all TL issues.
PS: Search is your friend. There are a gazillion threads on tint. Check the 3G garage sticky and follow the links.

I got mine done at Lexus since my girlfriend works there. Mine cost $220 for removal and retint. Regular price is $350 not including the front and removal. Life time guarantee. 5% on the side, 15% in the rear, and 35% in the front.
Xpditor - I heard Tint King does a great job. I pass by there all the time.

I paid $250 here at the dealership in Utah with lifetime warranty. I got 50% on fronts, 35% on rear doors, and 20% on back window. Looks good faded in like that.
Plus the guy who does them here, takes off the door panels and puts a strip of felt on the inside of the window seals.
If you notice that there is felt on the outside of the window openings...but not the inside. For some reason acura decided to not put any there. So to avoid ANY scratching from the window area when it opens and closes, he puts that felt there.
Nice little touch IMHO.

$300, that's including the windshield (the whole thing, not a strip), which was an extra $100. So it was $200... that's with quartz 20% Diamond (diamond is the brand, made by sunguard i think, and quartz being the color). I have 20% all the way around, but then 50% on the windshield... for those of you who are already going "illegal" you should consider getting it on the windshield... it is wonderful, I have it on all three of our cars... never been a problem for me with cops either in Jacksonville, or Wichita.

I am getting quoted $400 for F1 Pinnacle from Sunbusters in Austin. That seems pretty high given what others in this thread have said they got (~$250). Did you guys talk them down or is that what you were quoted? Has anyone around here dealt with Sunbusters? I heard lots of the dealerships actually send the cars to them.

The tint shop I use in Texas will do any sedan for $119 for 35%, all windows but windshield. Obviously, the high-dollar films are more, but this is with lifetime guarantee, so it's hard to justify highest-price films for 3-year lease cars.

I paid $210 for all 4 windows, rear windshield, and front windshield visor from EnergyGuard in Hawthorn Woods. They are the preferred tint place for Barrington Motor Works, a dealership that specializes in high end vehicles (Benz, BMQ, Porsche, Lexus, etc.). Also lifetime guarantee.

Lifetime warranty on all tint is for discoloration or bubbles. It DOES NOT cover scratches. Read your paperwork.
I put the moleskin on myself. If you look in the 3G Garage sticky thread, you will find instructions and photos. The material is cheap and there's usually a couple of guys around here offering it. It took me about an hour and a half to do all four doors.
Page 3 of the Navi owner's manual says not to put metallic tint on the TL as it WILL interfere with the GPS antenna which is below the rear package shelf.
Many people here say they have metallic tint and their Navi works fine. Of course, most never had it before so they have nothing to compare it with for accuracy, speed, and consistency.
Oh, the Navi will still work- sort of. If you are in an area with strong signals and no interference, it will probably be mostly accurate most of the time...
But more and more threads are being started by folks who are having glitches with their Navi or inaccurate routing. Metallic tint? Could be.
Bottom line is: why pay $2,000 for a Navi system and then go out an put a metal barrier over the antenna against the specific cautions of the manufacturer?
Some people have just put the ceramic tint on the back window and used metallic on the sides. That's a little cheaper.
By the way... the factory tint is 75% as measured by me with a certified police tint meter. Be sure and factor that in when calculating your legality. My 35% Pinnacle together with the factory tint measured 28% which was still legal for Florida. There is no limit on the back window in Florida so I went with the 15%. It

OK Revision. Lifetime warranty, with scratch guard, and no cost replacement for $125. Haven't seen any performance issues from the satalite read diag screen. Then again I've only had the car for 30 minutes. Jury's out till I get the car back. But I've had a portable unit before I bought this car. It worked just fine sitting in my passenger seat of my old car which had metalic tinted windows. Picked up an average of 6 satelites as good. I believe all it needs is three. I would expect the Acura nav to work better, I'll post once I get my car back.
