How much is a TL-S shell worth?

I have a 2007 Black TL Type-S with no engine. It has 73,000 miles on it. Body is in great shape as is the interior. Any ideas how much this might be worth?? Or any offers??

acura_dipset_tl 09-07-2012 07:48 PM

If you wanna sell it you must open a new thread in the black market.

lilsid112 09-07-2012 08:03 PM

Where are you located?

Bruce Banner 09-07-2012 09:11 PM

If you part out, there are some misc parts I would buy

vill0169 09-07-2012 09:17 PM

Too bad it's not a TL-S with the engine and no interior lol :D

Then I'd talk for a new track toy haha

1black_seven 09-08-2012 12:55 AM

sell the rims on the black market, cause I need some new ones.

paperboy42190 09-08-2012 06:11 AM

I'd be interested in some parts. Where are you located?

Aus10Type-s 09-08-2012 07:12 AM

It's more of a question than anything else. I don't really care to part it out. I was just wondering if it was worth anything or if there was a market for it?

Steven Bell 09-08-2012 07:26 AM

Why not put an engine in it...

lilsid112 09-08-2012 10:39 AM

Is worth something to the right person of course. I know many of us here could use many parts off of it. Like Steven said, why not put a new motor in it?

Ruby 09-08-2012 10:43 AM

I bet it could get 5 or 6 k

Aus10Type-s 09-08-2012 11:54 AM

I'm getting quotes from 6k to 7k for a used engine and dealer wants 10k+ for a new. Not sure I want to invest that much into it or if it's even worth it? Trying to way out my options right now.

truonghthe 09-08-2012 12:20 PM

I would say around $7-$8k, $6k to $7k for a used engine? who told you that? dealer? the only valuable used engine is Supra TT 2jz motor, our TL-S used engine only worth $2400 - $3500 and having some mechanic doing side job will cost you at most $1500 for putting in a new engine.

justnspace 09-08-2012 12:27 PM

^ agreed. you can find a used 3.5 engine for fairly cheap.

anionrings 09-09-2012 01:40 AM

with no motor...does the body has any damage?..what does it say on the title of the shell?...do u even have the title in hand for the shell?..

if its 5k ill look into investing in it myself...depends on condition etc...

sauceja 09-09-2012 12:51 PM

I can find a 3.5L motor for my van for like 750.00 and it has type S heads on it.

Find a 02-04 Honda Odyssey and pull the motor out of that.

$7k for a motor lol.

I wan gonna do a J-swap on my eg hatch and the 6 sp tranny was 3500.00 the motors I was finding 3.0, 3.2 and 3.5's for less than 1000.00. That was about 3 years ago.

The 02-04 Honda Odyssey has a 240 horsepower motor. NOT the same 3.5 as the Type S. Nice try though.

^^^their 3.5 is different than our 3.5.

AZP-TL 09-11-2012 10:29 PM

You can get a brand new engine from acuraoemparts.com for well under $5000, although not sure about shipping. Another $1600 to install it at a decent mechanic. The car will be worth a lot more if you do this than just sell a nonworking shell (although you may be able to get a decent amount out of it if you part it out but that takes a lot of time and energy).

Fabo_07Type-S 09-11-2012 10:49 PM

hmmm, Something sounds a little bit fishey ;) lol

Yea can swap in ody motor, or motor from 2nd gen tl or cl. Can get those for $500 with 50k miles on em. You can even build a stroker 3.5 or 3.6 for less than a new engine from acura.

Aus10Type-s 09-21-2012 04:09 PM

Well dropped in a used engine in with 29,000 miles. After seeing the car with the subframe dropped out of it and everything involved, I hope they know what they are doing!
