How much time is on this timing belt...

I just cannot believe whenever I open a timing belt cover at TL see horse sh.. Can not do here at parking of apartment building, will give to shop or if someone want do in his garage and I may or may not help, as would be needed. Hope again go rockauto AISIN route. At last I will know what is problem if car stop in mid of night. Does anyone in this country replace timing belt ever?

This is when I opened at 2003 tl to check the timing belt in 10.2017.

Car was sold in 2020 by "Bloomington Acura" in MN. How can they even sell car with bad timing belt? They sold it with 320K and now it is 340K. Do they have any sort of warranty? What would it take them to do it with all tools, impact drivers and hoists, like 5 hours?

Ordered Aisin set from rockauto. Aisin TKH-002. Sort of p off. Will ever in my life timing belt be ok when I check it? Will post add at Craigs List and if someone will do for reasonable price, would say 300-500$ will give to him to do. Look forward to doing only electrical stuff, I have some education toward electrical engineering, and brakes at my cars and pickups, plus of course rust fighting with Cosmoline and Fluid Film.

Dealerships often do not give a rats ass about their customers. They are almost always very overpriced. They want to make as much profit as possible, I understand this. But they go beyond a good, fair profit. Not all of them, of course. Many are wonderful, too. Obviously, Bloomington Acura is not. OR, perhaps, they have a lazy service team or service team member.

You do not have to go to a dealership for a timing belt job. There are mechanics who can also do the job.

But If I were you, I would confront them and ask them why they sold you a car with such a horrible and very important part. I'm guessing that they will tell you some bullshit line and make excuses. But there is always the possibility that they will apologize and fix it for free or at a reduced rate.

^^^ I bought the car at auction in February. They sell it to other person with such bad timing belt. Possible would go there and talk with them anyway. They would not do it for me obviously but someone need to talk to them. Edit. I know where and when is sold because I did put vin number in search.

buying a car at auction with 320K miles and expecting the TB service to be completed is not reasonable. how much did you pay for the car?

^^^ Paid 850$ for car, 200$ for 2 keys and 180$ for towing. You cannot know miles till you have a key on police auction or if auctioneer say miles but it is seldom. Sometimes it is possible check vin at internet to see where the car come from. However, the seats were worn out and it should have been my warning. That say car has good tranny and engine so far.

You absolutely have no reason to be “pissed off” buying a car from auction. You got what you paid for..

Basically 25% of the purchase price of this car went towards keys for it, then is angry about the timing belt situation. This guy buys sushi from gas stations...

I'm confused...it appears you included links in your original post referencing multiple timing belt issues on other auction TL's you bought in the past....? Brother stop buying auction cars (ESPECIALLY ones under a grand) if you don't want to do the work on them.

^^^ In 2016 I bought Acura TL 2003 at auction for 450$. Checked timing belt then and was so and so, saw some cracks. Checked again in 2017 and had big cracks and had to replace timing belt. Replaced only timing belt. In mid of May 2022 had to jump curb to avoid f opossum and hear metallic noise from timing belt area. It is same 2003 TL. In 6.3.22 was driving down highway at 11pm and car shut down. Get lucky to manage to go to the safety line. The idler pulley was shot and had to replace the timing belt kit. Expected for 2 months to win Power Ball or Mega Millions for saving the life of an opossum and almost destroying my car in process, but didn't get. However open to win lottery for it even today, I do not mind late payment back.

O. When you see numbers of $ that I paid for my TLs do not forget that it is lottery when you buying it at auction. In 2004 or so bought an Acura Legend on auction and turn out it had cracked cylinder head. Had to fix it and it wasn't fun. Again if would have garage would be much easier and will rent place with garage finally. This 08 so far had to replace brake caliper, rotor, upper control arm, one COP, hid bulb.

Did put at Craigs list add about project. I had 2 emails without price and one guy said 1300$. Yeah (facepalm picture here). I went to one shop close to me that gave in past some reasonable price and they say 600$. Will do some deep thinking about that offer. F 1300$ where is it like 6 hour job for shop. Other shops in the area I didn't even ask this time as in the past they give me some ridiculous pricing.

Set is here. Wow in two days. I will probably work on it Saturday as I have to work tomorrow. Or give to 600$ guy maybe. With 1300$ price choice was clear.

The Timing belt set is replaced by a mechanic and cost me 550$ with tax. Last year when I did the entire timing belt set at 2003 I could not give it to the mechanic because the belt broke when I did drive and didn't know if engine is bad. And if the engine was bad would be too expensive to fix. At this car I had problem with hot weather and landlord do not allow me work at car. I will move soon. Worst of all just 4 feet away from passenger side of my car other car is there and at weekend, when I suppose work at car, they sit in car 2-3 of them and smoke weed or other use other drugs.
The belt while cracked, didn't look too bad. Should go a few months more. The water pump, pulleys and tensioner are obviously replaced last time when was belt. They are Honda originals too. I'm thinking to save pulleys, tensioner and water pump.
